Here are a couple of photos of my work horse, my 1966 Fender Custom Telecaster. This guitar really rocks; I have had it for years and I can only describe it as a "keeper."
I love the Custom Telecasters; I also have a 1960 Custom Telecaster that I will post this week. But this is my favorite! The maple cap neck w/transition logo makes it a tad rarer than most '66s.
    Thanks for looking!
BTW....I posted several more photos of my newly acquired 1970 Fender rosewood telecaster. I would really appreciate it if some of the tele experts, players, contributors, collectors and readers here would take a look at the guitar for me....I always appreciate another set of eyes and opinions! Thank you so much! Here's the rosewood tele thread....

and the '66 custom telecaster...Thank you!

That guitar just has those 'can't fake' relic marks. The orange headstock face, chips around the 21st fret. Ivory binding and importantly the red in the burst hasn't faded. Worn through paint centre rear and upper right bouts

That's lovely. Probably a bit bright with steel saddles and 1 meg pots?

    Absolutely stunning!

Does anyone else wonder what it'd look like with a not so nice pickgaurd? Seems way too nice and shiny for the rest of the guitar.

    Great guitar.

The beat up 66 Custom with RW board in my avatar is my gigging workhorse most of the time so I totally understand your attachment to yours:D.

Did you ever popped the neck? What's the neck date on that one?

    Stunning, beautiful guitar.

    Pics suggest a thick headstock.

I'm asking because my '66 Tele has an unusually thick headstock -- the Kluson tuners barely clear the face -- and wonder if this was a "thing" in the early CBS years.

Thanks for sharing your guitar pics.

Here's a couple of quick shots from my 66 that may help.

Beautiful custom!!! Similar to Andy Summers tele.

Fwiw, I've seen a 66 maple board with a thick headstock as well.
