with the prices of new celestion blue alnicos going for around $250 or so, is a reconed 1964 vox celestion worth $200?
it does sound great and i'd put it in my ac15c1 and use the greenback elsewhere.

Depends on how well the recone job was done. Me, I'd just buy a new one at $250 and call it a day. YMMV

If I were in the hunt for that sound and if that speaker had a well done recone that sounded good, I'd do it. Cheaper than a new one.

Imho, vintage speakers’ value is tied to their ability to make an otherwise correct vintage amp ‘correct’.......that means that the date matching brings the value. Otherwise, I am a new speaker kind of guy. That said, I have two all original Celestion Alnico Silver Bulldogs that came out of a Super Beatle amp. I need to find an application for them.
