Hey, just sharing today. My 1961 Tele, 100% original and a really, really superb sounding guitar. Wonderful D-shaped neck. These slab-board Teles are my favs, they have such a snappy but rich tone. They are truly the most versatile guitar ever made, IMO.

5/51 body date, 6/61 neck date. Pots date to the 36th week of 1961.

Would love to see other slab board Teles from members as you don't see them so often!

    BT

What a wonderful guitar.....thanks for sharing.

Early 60's teles are some of the best sounding guitars ever made imo and I'd bet they're also harder to find than their 50's siblings.

I find they are much less frequent to come by. I am lucky to live in a place with some nice and reputable vintage shops and I have only seen two slab board models come through in the past 10 years. They get white guard '55-58 Teles frequently and I even see more blackguards in general as well.

I agree, they are the most versatile and usable of all the Tele models, and I love maple-necked Teles for what they do as well!

Slab board refers to the 'slab' of brazilian rosewood on the neck, opposed to a curved veneer of rosewood that Fender would employ starting in mid '62.

    The dots are clay :)

    thx
so the fretboard has no radius?
that would be a different feel
No It looks like a radius
I guess I dont get it.
I see its extending above the nut.
    whatever its very cool

Well it's got a few scratches so that really cuts the value. I'll give you $100 for it. :D

    Here and there
Slab board is like a flat join between the fretboard & maple, later ones had a curved join, fitting like a stack of Pringles ;)
