Season three of the Marty Stuart Show begins this weekend.

Some guy by the name of Willie Nelson is the guest.

First showing is 7 pm CST today on RFD TV.

Repeats tomorrow at 9 am CST and Monday or Tuesday at midnight CST.

If you can and haven't, give the MSS a watch.

Some say it is the quickest 30 minutes on television.

The Superlatives earned their money tonight.
Willie's timing can be a real challenge.
    They held it together though.
Great way to kick off the new season!

Agreed. Did you see the recent ACL with Willie and Asleep at the Wheel??? It turned out much better than I thought it would. In fact, I liked it a lot.

We don't get RFD out here in California, but I just got the first season on dvd and it is great. Wonder if they'll release season 2... anyone?

If you actually study and listen close to Willie's timing it's absolute perfection, you could set your watch by it. Now his phrasing can sometimes throw off some folks, but not his timing and his guitar rhythm is one of the strongest out there. Even a VFW band of drunk blind guys could follow Willie's guitar rhythm.

    Nope.
I've seen him live and close-up at Farm-Aid.
Willie's timing is FAR from absolute perfection.
Willie plays both ahead and behind the beat at times.
And it's not just his jazzy vocal phrasing.

As they say down at the American Legion hall on Thursday nights: BINGO!

But, seeing as how it is both ahead and behind the beat, maybe it does average out to perfection. Hmmm...

He does pretty good for a septuagenarian stoner! A friend of mine has played golf with Willie a couple of times and says that he is one hell of a great guy. Now tell me this, how could "one hell of a great guy" have bad timing? "Great" presupposes at least good, but most likely great, timing. Have a toke and think about it.

That's phrasing not timing. Get out your metronome and play along with Willie, you will find that "one" is ALWAYS right in sync every measure.

I think Willie's phrasing (timing to some) is part of the Willie recipe. It is what I expect when he plays. Cool!

Thanks for that... a little pricey for one show. I hope they come out with the dvds!

Is it just me or does Willie's guitar sound out of tune, a lot??? Granted everything sounded right Sat. night, Marty and his guys took real good care of him mind you...

For me Willie is one of the greatest lead players around. Here is playing a strat with a pickup band, and he still sounds the same! His tone is all in his fingers.

I wish I could watch Marty's show on Netflix (I don't get RFD).

I am however excited that Marty is coming to Maine for 2 dates in July. I plan on making it to at least one.
