I'd try swapping V1 and V2 (the first two 12AX7 tubes).
If V2 (the 'crunch' preamp tube) is faulty, your 'normal' volume should...
I have an older (version 1?) C30, and can guarantee that the crunch channel is massively louder than the normal channel.
How is your 'Pre' set...

I'll second the suggestions for the Boss GE7, or the MXR Micro Amp.
Pretty much any 'boost' pedal will do the job though - even a distortion...
'70's Strat with the big headstock, and the micro-tilt - that's pretty much the perfect strat IMHO.
