Pros: The sound
Cons: the sound, heh...

What can I say? It was the industry standard for decades. Maybe still is.

To be honest, I think some Taylors, and other modern guitars have a clearer sound, and if that's what you prefer, by all means go for it.

The D-28 has a more pronounced midrange -at least to my ears- and can sometimes seem a little muddier compared to some of it's rivals.

However, that's a sound I happen to like.

It seems to have more of a 'classic' tone to it, as opposed to a more modern sound.

I play blues, bluegrass, country, and even slide on it, and it works for me!

Pros: Big sustain with chocolate harmonics galor
Cons: It's a big dreadnought- what can you say?

I have played acoustics for 49 years and have owned many different brands including Guilds, high end Brazilian Rosewood Taylors, Gallaghers, ect. and have always come back to the Martins. I think most Taylors get too middy when driven hard. Martins just get louder. I have a '07 HD 28, an '09 OM18V and a 1958 00021 with Brazilian rosewood. Never for sale.
