Well, let me be the first one here!
I currently have the Telefunken ribbed plate 12AX7A as the first preamp tube in my 1966 Princeton Reverb (the first position matters the most). It sounds great, articulate, dynamic, clean - which I like as I do mostly jazz.
The Tele has a little less gain than some Philips/Sylvania NOS and Chinese current production. To be honest, I don't hear much difference to a Philips Miniwatt NOS I also had there, but I am very satisfied. Also I do not hear a difference between the smooth plate Tele I also have, and this ribbed plate (which I prefer for looks, not that it matters in the amp).
I would probably not pay $50 for it, but - pulling it out of a trashed tube radio was one of the best trash finds so far.
Oh, and I only new realized, this item's nick is the same as the guitar's we all love !
