Well, this looked an easy mod! Just whip off the old saddles and replace with these. All went well, until setting the action. I discovered that the outer ends of the outer saddles would not go low enough to reset the action to what it had been before. They were sitting on the bridge mounting screw heads. Also, the 3rd string started to sound like a sitar.
I removed the outer saddles one at a time and had at them with a file, until I could get the same range as the original saddles, then reset the guitar. It never felt quite right after that, and I've now gone back to the original saddles, which also got rid of the sitar buzz.
I intend to try, and will review, a Wilkinson WT3 bridge in the (hopefully) near future.

I replaced the stock modern bridge on my 2002 MIM Tele. I used a Fender bridge plate and after considerable thought, I decided on the Stewart McDonald compensated saddles.
The saddles are not flat on the bottom side as are the standard Fender saddles. This allows you to flip one over to match the typical /\/ shape. It also means more mass and that's OK. It could prevent you from setting the string height low enough. I was able to set the height just where I wanted without the saddle touching the bridge plate. If I needed to go any lower on the 6th string, filing would be required.
It took quite a while but I was able to adjust the intonation to within 1 or 2 cents on each string pair. I also had the sitar effect on the G and D strings just like the previous reviewer. After a couple of hours playing, this has gone away. The odd thing was the sitar noise didn't seem to be comming from the saddle.

No complaints here. I replaced 52RI saddles with these and they have looked, fit, and sounded fine since day one. I love the recessed allen head screws that don't cut my hand.
I've probably had them for close to two years and they look nice and old now from hand sweat and beer spills.

I pay $ 11.50 per set, must've installed 30 sets on all sorts of MIM Fender Teles, Squier Teles and 51s and when combined with bridgeplate, nut and tuner upgrades, produce excellent results. If you pay over $ 1,000 for your guitar, it makes sense to go Callaham or Glendale. I never had any problems with string height, sitarring is from guys not sweating the alignment of the string over the barrel. This is a great alloy brass, sound hardware, long life expectancy. I match it to the # 0099 chromed heavy steel vintage plate also from Stewart MacDonald. Give the threaded steel saddles that come with that away to anyone who will take 'em, and put these # 5167s on there.

For $14 what the heck? No they aren't Callaham's , but a nice upgrade IMHO.
