rough fret edges on neck

This is a great guitar for not much money. (250 slightly used) The workmanship on mine is exceptional. String through body, six saddle bridge. Frets and neck are finished nicely; the frets are not dressed to a high polish, but I did not expect that. They are perfectly level with no buzzes. The stock pickups are very respectable (although I changed mine, not because of quality, but just to get a different sound). The guitar has very nice resonance unplugged. The only small thing is not having rolled edges like the more expensive models, but this is really not a big deal for me.
I still can't believe how much guitar I have for $250

My MIM Tele is a 2002 model with Alder body. I had Larry at Music One Workshop give it the Gold Level setup...it arrived as a stellar playing guitar.
I love the Blue Agave finish...metallic (think Fender's Ice Blue, just not as blue, more gray), it's done very well. Overall the guitar was assembled nicely. The electronics are the same as the US models (pots, switch, jack) as I've check the serial numbers...same as the US American Series, 52 RI, etc. ... The alder body does give the guitar more beefy tones, not the zing of ash, but is cuts well.
Can't comment on the stock pups as I had those replaced by Larry prior to arrival (Nocaster Bridge and TX Tele Spec. neck). I did replace the heavy chrome bridge with a vintage Fender 3 brass saddle unit. Improved resonance and twang were immediately heard...and the best part, it is a direct replacement...screw holes match right up, no markings on the body.
This is a great "project" or tweakers axe.

I feel qualified to rate this guitar, since I've owned 5 or 6 of them. My review reflects my overall assessment of all. Factoring the price in, this may be one of the best values on the market. In fact, if the Fender deluxe gig bag were included, I think I'd rate it a "5."
These guitars typically have great spank and a cool vibe about them. Knowing they're the cheapest "real" Tele is cool in my opinion, they're kinda what a Tele is supposed to be all about.
I'd say they are giggable out of the box, but down the road, you'd likely want to experiment with pickups, bridges, etc.
I like the necks, they're just chunky enough and the radius of the fretboard is flatter than Fender Mexico's Deluxe and Classic series.
My experience is that most are usually a little on the heavy side.
I do wish they offered Rosewood as an option; I think that'd be great with the olympic white!
Can't say enough about what a good value these guitars are. New, they're about $350, used, they typically hold their value up to about $300 (maybe with a gig bag or case thrown in). I've sometimes seen them go for nearly as much as a new one, which is good for people who buy them new, they hold their value pretty well. Sometimes you can find a real steal, maybe $225-$275 or so. If you can one at a good price and you like it--BUY IT!!

Hi:
I'm new to the FDPRI. My MIM Tele is a red one I bought new in Sept 1994. I had it professionally set up after purchace including a new custom made nut.
I have several Tele's. I made this 94 Tele my main work guitar. I had Texas Special Pickups installed in 1998. I have gigged this guitar to death. The frets are worn and the edges of the neck are worn down, and plenty of fretboard scuffs on the first 13 frets. I also have changed out the pickguard and have had to replace 5 of the 6 tuners.
I paid $329.00 for it new. I GOT My Moneys worth, and it still plays and sounds fantastic

i have a 2006 MIM telecaster. The pickups were hot which isn't really the telecaster sound. It really works well for a rock guitar. The neck is actually really good (aside from the bleached maple look) it feels great and the frets are perfect. The tuners are good and have had no problems with them. The thing I like about these guitars is how easy it is to mod them which I find to half the fun with guitars. The six saddle bridge is set up for a direct fit to a three saddle bridge. I put in vintage nocaster spec pups in it and it plays and sounds fantastic. I will be refinishing the neck at a time where I can bare to be without it for a while. Highly playable guitar and a few mods make it sound like anything that you want. Oh the output jack in mine is horrendous can't use right angles without it falling out and if I use the straight throughs the jackplate half hangs out of my guitar when I pull it out fortunately a cheap fix.

I have a 2008 MIM Tele I justs bought in late August. Like any guitar you are about to buy...look at more than just one of that same model for comparison. I looked at three MIM Teles in two different shops, two of the three were not worthy. One had a bad nut with the Bass E string dinging into the neck just behind the nut...indicating the nut wasn't cut right..[found that same problem on an American Strat aswell]. The second Tele didn't have a good feel in the neck. The 3rd Tele was Tops. Took it home and set it up myself..[straighten the neck somewhat and re-adjusted the saddles for the best posible action]. Great Tele with Top Grade pickups. These new Standard MIM Teles come with 'Re-voiced hotter Pickups'. These pups are identicle to my Custom Shop Texas Specials. No Copper plate on the bottom of the Re-voiced pups, but they are extra wound and have TWO longway magnetic bars paralleling eachother on the bottom. The pole pieces are not staggared like the Tex Spcls, but are raised and beveled like the 'Vintage Noiseless Pups from the Custom shop. Add a pair of 'Fender Deluxe locking Tuners and you have a high end guitar. Anything else is cosmetic on this Tele. No doubt that Competion is tough out there and Fender had to put some high end pups in this guitar to compete. Know your guitars and what to LOOK for, before you grab one and run out the door, Fender is NOT consistant with every MIM or American Guitar they make these days..know your product well !!
