Description: This is a DVD filmed in 1996 with lessons from Brent Mason, the phenomenal Nashville Session player. Brent earned his stripes playing in bars and clubs in the Midwest (he's from Ohio) until moving to Nashville where he was in a house band until he became an almost strictly session master. Over the past several years the majority of the songs on the country top-10 songs have him listed in the credits.

Of course, becoming a good Tele player is a lifetime of study, but for his young age Brent is one of the virtousos of all time. Brent quotes the great Jerry Reed as saying, "I'm more a guitar thinker than a guitar player."

This tape has some unconventional stuff such as demonstrations of desirable gear for Nashville session work, licks learned from non-guitar players such as Western Swing fiddle maestro Johnny Gimble, and country jazz guitar on a Gibson.

Brent does open string runs, pedal steel type runs, triplets and Don Rich style double stops with hammer-ons, and jazz inspired 7th, 9th, and 11th chord comping.

Brent moves very fast and plays difficult stuff like it is the easiest thing in the world. This tape will take hours and hours to completely master, but if you love country guitar, it is a lot of fun.

Pros: The "in-tune" slow motion feature!
Cons: Maybe make a new updated one???

Absolutely love this DVD!!! It is a little difficult to follow along with him though, but having the slow motion section with everything in tune is just amazing! It really makes this DVD (by this I mean Hot Licks in general!) better than any other!
