I've had a soft spot for Dano/Silvertone guitars for many years. When I came across Mona in a used shop, I couldn't pass her up.
Mona is a spot on copy of the 60's Amp in Case 1457 Silvertone badged Danelectro guitars sold through Sears catalogs. Telestar guitars were the brainchild of ex-Gibson wonder, JT Robiloff. The company has long been out of business, so I was thrilled to find one. This guitar had been in the back of my mind since I passed on one years ago. Never thought I'd find another.
Mona sports Silver sparkle paint with a "special" body material stronger, but similar, to Masonite. Two lipstick tube pickups. Volume/Tone controls and a 3 way switch. Nice Gotoh tuners and bridge contribute to the excellent tuning stability.
Not only does Mona look cool, she plays like a dream. The buttery smoothness of the neck and action makes this one a joy to play.
The output of the Lip Stick tube pups is a bit stronger than my 50's Silvertone.....and the tone is more refined. The tonal variations with this guitar are wonderful.....from sweet blues to gut bucket funk......from brit pop jangle to lush, ambient washes. Again......very toneful and very versitile.
Mona is proving to be a very versitile, fun and inspiring guitar to play. Perhaps the best $100 I've spent on a piece of gear.

A tad awkward body style. A bit on the cheap side for jack and switch.

I think the lipstick pickups of the Mona are waaay beyond the Danelectro (I also own a 56-U2). The Mona has a little meatier tone than the Dan-o, but is still solidly in the single coil camp.
My Mona plays quite well. I bought mine NOS in '05 with the amp-in-case which I have never even turned on. Factory setup left nothing to complain about. I like playing solid body guitars better, but the Mona gives me something that none of my solidbodies can.
I'm very glad to own one. It is in no danger of being for sale. I could never get what I feel it is worth. I'll be very pleased to hang on to it.
