First, I'll qualify my review: I am unabashadly NOT a Strat guy--I've just never connected with them. That said, I bought this guitar on impulse because I was so taken with the looks. I kept it a week, and the store let me return it for in-store credit. That's not a reflection on the guitar, as I constantly buy / sell / trade, and really need a different kind of guitar for gigging. I was very impressed overall with this Strat, and would recommend it, but with some minor reservations.
The clean tones were good on this Strat--the "in between" tones were particularly sweet. I couldn't honestly say the clean tones on this guitar were as good as on an American Stnd Strat I owned about a year ago--I thought that one had a more "piano-like" ringing tone than this one, but of course cost a good bit more too. Personally, I wish they would've just gone with some basic AlNiCo pickups instead of the hotter Tex-Mex single coils that they went with. I would've preferred a more "vintagey" Strat pickup--perhaps just whatever goes in an American Strat. The Tex-Mex pickups were a little harsh to my ears with any degree of overdrive, and quite frankly, sounded TERRIBLE on high-gain settings (which I use a good deal). They are also particularly noisy--even more noisy than you'd normally expect a single coil to sound. My P90 equipped Korean PRS isn't nearly so noisey as this Strat. So to me, it was useless as a "rock and roll" guitar, but nice for just clean tones. Unfortunately, this makes the guitar somewhat of a "one trick pony" in my opinion (but the one pony is pretty nice, especially for the price).
The fit and finish of this guitar was extremely good. The playability was awesome--low, low action with virtually no buzzing. Comes with a very cool limited edition gig bag. As for looks, I cannot say enough about the color of this guitar--MAN do I wish they would have made a Tele in this combination ('cept maybe with a rosewood board--yummy!).
I had initially thought the frets were med jumbos, but the Fender website stated vintage, and when I got it home and played it, it appears they are indeed the same frets as older MIM standard Strats, which are sort of narrow and tall (new standard Strats have med jumbos now).
Overall this is a very nice Strat for a nice price, and this is coming from a "non-Strat guy!"

The finish is great and it's an aweome color. The guitar is very similiar to the Jimmy Vaughan strat in features and playability. Great for blues & medium to mellow rock.

One of my freinds just bought one of these about three or four months ago. We play every other saturday night and this guitar fits right in with my Cray strat, Buddy Guy strat and Highway 1. I think the guitar is great for 50's, 60's, 70's rock, etc... It plays great clean which is what most strats with single coils are supposed to do. I can't honestly say i would buy one over one of my current guitars but i think it's a great guitar, and for anyone who wants to play a strat it's an affordable guitar that's not poorly built. The color will please your eye and the please your check-book!
