The Epiphone Masterbilt EF500RA is truly a great guitar, I'll start with that.
Appearance:
The vintage styling is wonderully pleasing to the eye. This particular model came with abalone inlays around the body, and is bound. The neck is adorned with pearl diamond inlays with a stickpin inlay on the headstock.
Sound/Construction:
Warm, very very warm. For being a smaller body than my dreadnaught, it still gives a very full sound. It is designed for finger-style playing, and does the job well. The neck has a V-shape which is awkward at first but grows quickly on you. Because of the shape, fingerstyling is easy. Fingerpicking gives a good full, even sound across the strings. Using a pick, and strumming loses some of the luster and tone to the strings but still sounds good.
Great, solid guitar. Comes with a rigid gig bag, with built in hygrometer to measure humidity.
List Price: $1,665.00
Retail Price: $999.99
