The tone and versatility of this guitar are amazing. This guitar is great for my musical style, which is diverse but flies between blues, funk, and rock. I've played other baritone's, but they always sounded too harsh and had a lack of good tone. The tone on this Rich Custom Baritone is incredible, and it growls with a ferocity that makes people's heads turn. The twangy growl that eminates from this guitar is like nothing I've ever encountered. Each setting on the switch creates a different sound, the tapped positions are my favorites, such a nice vintage warm tone!
This guitar was set-up right before shipping to me, and it showed. It plays very nicely and the action is nice and low, but still high enough more me to use with my bottleneck slide all the time. Everything was setup great, I've been playing it for 4 months straight now and it is in exactly the same great shape.
I am a professional singer/songwriter/guitarist who plays an average of 4 nights a week. Rich was happy to pass his baritone beauty onto someone who would get some great use out of it. With every show I've played, people have come up to take a closer look and freak out when they can actually feel the denim on the guitar. The coating is just enough where it protects it from bangs and scrapes. The hardware has performed great and seems like its built to last.
The people at Rice Custom Guitars are some of the friendliest people I've ever dealt with. Rich Rice himself went out of his way to make sure I got this guitar as quickly and securely as possible. Just one look at the website and you can see the passion and creativity that goes into all their guitars.
I have been playing guitar for over 10 years, professionally for 6 years. This guitar is one-of-a-kind, and that is part of the appeal of it. However, I love the way it sounds, and certainly have never heard any tone quite like it. I chose this guitar based on its looks and hardware - I was so happy to find the sound and play-ability were just as awesome. I can't think of anything I could do to improve this guitar. I know I got a steal with this one, its obviously worth much more than I paid for it - lucky me!

Solid alder 2 piece body covered in denim, 27" scale.
Pickups include a Duncan Hot tapped (STL-2T) pickup for Telecaster in the bridge position. The tapped version provides the ability to also get a classic Tele tone. This pickup has had a nickel-plated steel baseplate added to enhance the low-end focus. The baseplate redirects the magnetic field back up at the pickups, giving the pickup a punchier tone and a more responsive feel.

5 way special switching.

CTS pots, CRL switch, Orange Drop .033 capacitor, and Switchcraft output jack round out the electronics.
Gotoh repro kluson style vintage tuners. AllParts bari neck, recarved to proper shape. Polyacrylic finish. Maple neck w/light colored rosewood board. Medium frets. Fender modern style 6 saddle bridge with string through the body mounts. Stainless steel neck bolts and bridge mounting screws. Hand fitted/carved bone nut. 5 hole vintage style Bakelite pickguard. Nickel barrel knobs.
