My first review in this forum. Basically I want to spread the word about Fulltone excellent guitar effect pedals in general, and the OCD in particular. I do not work in the music industry and am not affiliated with Fulltone in any way. I've been playing guitar for over 20 years in both gigging and recording situations.
Fulltone is a boutique effect manufacturer. They've been putting out pedals for about 10 years or so. These are not mass produced products (e.g. Boss, Digitech, Dunlop, etc.), but are analog effects hand built with lots of attention to detail. The OCD is the fifth Fulltone pedal I've bought this year.
There's been a lot of hype surrounding the OCD, and a long waiting list to get one. I got mine after about 4 months of waiting. I think the hype is essentially well-earned.
This this is called an overdrive pedal, the range of gain it offers allows it to function as a clean boost all the way to full blown distortion. It has volume, gain, and tone knobs and a mini toggle switch which changes the sound from Marshall-like voicing to Fender-like voicing. This pedal is extremely dynamic. It allows me to turn down the volume on my guitar all the way down to 5 or so, cleaning up the sound nicely. It's also very sensitive to picking dynamics, so you can control the amount of distortion by how hard or light you pick.
Again, the range of sounds is tremendous. On cleaner settings through a nice tube amp, this pedal can give you a very musical and expressive kind of dirt. On higher settings, it can rage like a modded Marshall, almost getting into class a Vox type territory.
The quality of the components and internal wiring are beautiful. There is pride in the workmanship. It's a beautiful thing to see.
Check it out. Get on the waiting list. If you play blues or classic rock, or hard rock, this pedal can become your go-to pedal for your magic sound.

Okay. I have been hearing all the hype about this pedal so I go to the music store to see what all the fuss is. To me, the pedal sounded a little weak. I am looking for pedals that will record well and enhance the sound of my guitar not change that sound. I always want to hear the sound of my amp and guitar and have an effect just be that "an effect" I thought the OCD sounded a little thin and buzzy and I did tweak on it for a long time. I own a Fulltone Tube delay and love that unit but this guy didn’t do it for me. Just my 2 cents, but then again I don't like Tube Screamers either :o)

I thought I'd give the OCD a plug. I've been using it for a few years and it's not going anywhere. That alone says something. It has the tube amp tone without any extraneous transistor sound. I like the High/Lo output switch. For a clean amp setting the High setting gives you that Marshall Plexi thing, not over the top but just right. With a cranked amp the Lo setting sounds better to my ear. It lets your amp's output tubes do the talking. At $159 I think it's a fair deal (not a steal!).
