Pros: lasts a long time, especially for people with acidic fingers
Cons: not a good tone, especially for high quality guitars

I used to love elixer strings, but that was before i spent 1000 dollars on a good guitar. My fingers are really acidic and it saves me a lot of time changing stings but i put them on my new martin and they sounded worse than the black nasty strings (because i played it so much) that the guitar shipped with. The other thing that bothers me is that the high E and B stings aren't coated like the rest of the strings so they get covered in gunk quickly (despite frequent cleanings) and then (especially if you have a dreadnaught) there is nothing but bass; you might as well play power chords instead of barre chords. The tone of the elixers is too metalic and twangy, which is ok if you have a lower end guitar because its going to sounds like that anyway, but if you have anything that you expect a good, full tone out of then i dont recommend these strings.

Pros: I dont have anything nice to say
Cons: Made my Martin go thud

Elixers make the bottom end of my 15 year old Martin guitar go thud...Plus the webbing that covers the strings frays and causes buzzing and muting.

Pros: They will last and keep their brightness longer
Cons: Poor tone quality, and more expensive

Taylor guitars claim that these are the only strings they recommend on all Taylors. So when I went to put new strings on my Taylor T-5, I went with these. I lost all my tone (acoustically) as well as electrically. I lost confidence in the Taylor product and Company. I ended up selling my T-5 on ebay. Not because of the strings... I was just never that knocked out about the guitar. For me... Well I would never recommend the strings to any serious player.
