All 6 strings intonate properly!

May be hard to find these days.

This is a 3 piece (strings per piece) Tele bridge brass saddle kit. The cool thing about these is that the screw holes are drilled at different angles for each of the 3 bridge pieces (they're labeled, so you know which is which) - this allows each string to be intonated properly instead of the compromises we all know and tolerate so well. I put these on my '67 Tele and can now play a 6 string barre chord on the 12th fret perfectly in tune (even after just using my little Boss tuner to intonate it myself). Amazing! - but now that I can actually use my low E string above the D I guess I have to figure out if it's a good idea. The bridge pieces also have less material under the E strings - supposedly to correct the 'loud E string' problem of some Teles. I never had such a problem, but my strings are balanced just fine with these pieces, so no worries anyway. I don't notice any difference in sound, sustain or tone from my previous brass saddle set and it's been too long since I've had on a stock Fender set to say if these sound different from those. But if you have a 3 piece bridge and can find a set of these, go for it for sure. I got this set on ebay a few months ago. I was initially skeptical that they would work as advertised, but I'm a total convert now. Here's a link: http://www.prosoundcommunications.co...en/bridge.html
Note: I didn't get the bridgeplate, just the bridge set. Also note: email seems to be the only way to communicate with Barden for now.

Easy Swap for MIM Telecaster-excellent intonation

I swapped out the standard 6 straddle bridge that came on my 07 MIM Telecaster. The Joe Barden bridge with compensated saddles was an exact fit. I did not have to remove any of the saddles from the JB Bridge in order to screw it to the body. I was concerned that it would take me a long time to figure out the proper scale length and begin the intonation challenge, but the length of the saddles that were already installed were almost dead on perfect. The total amount of time I spent (once installed which took maybe 15 minutes) adjusting the bridge pickup height and intonation was maybe 15 minutes. I don't know that my tone is any better but it certainly seems that the sustain from these brass saddles is significantly longer than the stock MIM 6 saddle configuration. I purchased the bridge on ebay for $50 but could have easily spent $65 from allparts. The bridge is readily available. One final note...I did not drill and install the additional two small screws at the upper part of the bridge simply because I didn't want to put holes in the guitar in the event that I did not like the saddle. All in all, I am extremely happy with the quality, ease of installation and improved sustain of this bridge/saddle combination. The fact that it looks really good is simply icing on the cake.
