I ran across this web site where they sell strings cheap. they are branded with webstrings' label. Since there are only a few string makers out there, for $2.35 a set I figured there wasn't much to loose.
The 10-52 set from dean markley was my standard for years, and they are a bit brighter than web strings sets, but the difference is minimal, say 1 to 1/12 on the treble dial. they are so inexpensive that I can afford to change strings as soon as they get dull, and with a dozen guitars that is a big deal!
these guys are not paying me to post this, but thier service is amazing. I tend to order 40 to 50 sets at a time, and they arrive in 3 to 5 days with shipping at no charge.
this has made it possible to always have new strings.two thumbs up guys!

finish blurs on unwound strings
|
|
I'm a cheapskate, and strings cost like $10 a set here. When I get into my heavy blues moods, I usually pop a thinnest string way too quickly.
From webstrings I get a full set for approx the price many here charge just for the one string. I've tried the 10-46/10-52 and 11 flatwounds, as well as some nylon strings (high tension). Previously played mostly D'Addarios, but the local shop I bought them from closed down. Also played Fender and EB.
Excellent service, prompt emails, quick shipment. Flat 15% for overseas orders suit me fine, as I order small shipments to Northern Europe!
The only negative I've seen so far is that the unwound strings sometimes are not of constant shine brand new. It's like the were slightly oxydised. I don't hear or feel it when I play. One classical set had a finish check which I did feel while playing. All in all: These "problems" don't really bother me at all.
