Dear Telanator,
This looks like a good pup, and one that I'll want to purchase when I get the gitus. Thanks for your efforts to create this product where none existed in this niche.

Bonneville Bruce, thanks. It all came about because of the enthusiasm of so many people here and around the net. We'll be retro-fitting 30 pickups and then we're done.

Interesting. Is this price for one pup or for a set? If the former, you're not too far off saving up for the original

Yes, this is the price for ONE retro-fit pickup. The price was not set with the current market value in mind. The price is the result of considering the machining costs, hand winding, hand grinding magnets, assembly, potting, testing and handling. Our tests have shown that these retro-fits truly nail the tone of the original 70's WRHB while having the correct appearance and the benefit of being hand wound, assembled and tested. Yes, in some cases the price is close to the originals. If the buyer decides that a brand new chrome cover over a hand built pickup possessing the same sound as the original is worthwhile, we have something for them.

I'm looking at options to put actual tone in my '06 72 MIM Thinline RI - Lollar P-92s, Duncan custom shop rewind, Chris Novak rewind, buying "real" WRHB's. SO hard to make the call without sound clips - do you have any sound clips of the finished product?
Also, do you still do these?
Thanks, Hank

I had one of Bob's pickups put into my 72 tele custom and the thing sounded so incredible I have sent away to get a custom cut pickguard so I can put another one of Bob's pickups in the bridge... The difference between his pickups and the ones from the 70s is that you can count on the build quality of his being top notch. The ones from the 70s were spotty and clearly depended on what day of the week and what materials were at hand at the time. If you're a lucky ebay shopper you will find a good quality old pickup. If you don't want to chance it, get one of Bob's. They are explosive!!! (Metaphorically speaking...)

These are the pickups for your Custom's, Thinline's - Type ll, and Starcasters.
By far the best pickup I have used in 35 years of playing. It is in my #1 Telecaster Custom and Bob is making a set for my 72 Thinline. They are in a league of their own. The clear articulate voice really sounds fantastic through a vintage Fender tube amp. They sound great driven too and believe me with this investment in a pickup and quite a bit of time using them - I can truely say WOW! I don't play with alot of distortion because I want to hear the guitars tone. I've used so many different pickups in my Teles and these are the best for me. Can'y wait for the Thinline set to arrive. Now if I just had a Starcaster......
------------------------------ Alright, hand over the Tele...and no one gets hurt!
