Show Us Your Stage Gear

I did a search and couldn't find a thread like this so......

Took some pics of my stage setup recently and thought I'd post them. If you have similar pics, please post them so we can all get some ideas.

I play guitar and keyboards. My setup consists of:

Crate Palomino V32
Boss BCB 60 with 2 Zendrives, DD-20, FX-17, TU-2
Roland XP-50 (Keyboard)
Roland VK-8M (Hammond B3 emulator)
Fender KX-100 (Keyboard Amp)

Depending on the situation, I also use a Roland VG-8 and a Roland GR-33. The keyboard, Hammond module, VG-8 and GR-33 each go into a compressor/limiter and then, into the submixer. From the submixer, a single mono feed goes to the keyboard amp and a single mono feed goes to the FOH (main mixing board). The guitar magnetics go through a wireless unit which feeds the pedalboard. The output of the pedalboard goes to the guitar amp which is miked with a Shure SM-58. Three of my guitars have piezo bridges. If I'm needing "acoustic" sounds from them, or, if I use my acoustic guitar, I run a separate cable from the guitar to the submixer. When I'm onstage, I feel like I'm "standing in the control room."

Here's the pics. Please overlook the lighting in the pictures...it wasn't too good.

This is a pic of my typical rig at the church I played at for the last decade or so (just left and looking for a new church):

The guitars change weekly at my whim and caprice as I have a passel of them and like to rotate them. Since I play guitar on some songs and bass on others, instead of using a guitar or bass head, I used the little PA head pictured, something the church had lying around unused. That way I could leave the bass plugged into one channel and the guitar plugged into a separate one, so I didn't have to be unplugging and re-plugging in, every time I switched instruments.

The cab is an old Laney 4x12 guitar cab of mine. Normally not a good thing to play bass through a guitar cab, but at the low volume we played at it wasn't a prob. I left the cab at the church 24/7 so I only had to bring in my guitars and effects rather than set up from scratch every week.

I never bothered mic'ing or going direct to the house PA. I figured that way the people who like guitar can sit on my side of the church and those that don't can sit over on the far side and hear less of me. It's not a big sanctuary so the rig itself was enough.

Here's the lot, I'm pretty sure there's some Teles in there, I'll let you find em!

PS: if you look carefully at the first in-church photo I posted, you will not see any "HUMBUCKERS, LOCKING TREMELO'S, OR A WHAMMY BAR"
Though Obviously I do own guitars with two out of those three.

I'm not ashamed of my Tele. In fact, I'll be playing it on one song on Sunday morning...."Freedom", by Darrell Evans. But, I need a humbucker lead growl for another song we're doing and I'll be using my Godin LGXT. That song is a re-written version of "Caught Up In You", by 38 Special. Here's pics of those 2 guitars....

G'day everyone. This is my first post here. Thought I'd introduce myself via my rig.

It's pretty light and simple. I only play my tele (USA std). Don't feel the need for anything else.
Amp is a Zinky Blue Velvet 25W. Full of tasty vintage tubes. Just an awesome sounding amp. Sometimes I just can't believe it's only a 1 x 12.
Barber Tone Press provides superb compression. Marshall Jackhammer pedal for a boost. Vox Tonelab SE in the FX loop for time-based effects.
It's all I need.
I feel so blessed that the Lord has allowed me to play such a great setup.
It's a great church rig too. Light and easy to transport. Great tone at low volume too. Everyone's happy.

Bless you all, folks.

Alan

Hello all,
My first post here. Great forum. I love the fact that there is a worship band section. This is my "low dough rig". It's cheap stuff but it sounds good and gets the job done.

I'm very grateful that there is a corner of the board for us church players too! Here are some shots from the church I lead at. I don't have a good all encompassing gear shot, so I'll post a couple.

I was actually soundman on this day, but normally I'm the one with the acoustic (yea, she's playing a Ric!):

Here for a larger shot: http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne...4253309&size=l

I was here for this one, with my Tele!

I could post more, but those are pretty good for now. You can find plenty more at either of those flickr sites

Welcome to the new folks!! I only have one electric left, and it IS a TELE!
HD S90 pickup in the bridge and a 70s Gibson minibucker in the neck. Modded Champ head on a ported 1x12 cab, various effects. Been playing more bass lately, so I picked up a Fender Rosco Beck V, played thru a DI. I'll post some pics later. I see some nice setups here, very cool.

Here's what I've got set up at our church. The amp is the church's Vox 50w Valvetronix that stays onstage. We just bring our boards & guitar and plug 'er in. I am very impressed by the amp, but a little too complicated for my liking. I takes quite a while to find "your" settings after having it used for a couple of weeks by the others in the rotation. I have placed the monitor directly underneath the amp, as this works fairly well since we use e-drums and having them high in the mix is important.

Guitar4Him, greetings from another Forum!!!

I was interested in all of you guys having your amps onstage. I have run it both ways in the past. From soung guy to musician I have hated having amps on stage. From playing in a 700 seat auditorium to a 120 seat forum the amps always ruled the roost over the main PA's. Even with them facing backward, the reflection always affected the balance. At this point in time we are running two keyboards, 5 vocalist, 1 bass, an electric and acoustic and a set of acoustic drums. And I find myself lost in the mix sometimes. I would love to have myself an amp aimed at my head so I can here "me", but then I will kill the acoustic chap, and then the bass player wants an amp and then we have all out stage war.
Suggestions?

Preacher;
Its very tough.
I play with a wireless guitar and vocal headset so I can go hear what we sound like. We run our worship service a little on the loud side.
My amp is a Atomic, which is enclosed, not open backed. And I use it as a foldback monitor.
We've decided to purchase a Clear Sonic drum enclosure to get our drums balanced. Its a lot of work, but worth the effort.
All of us have decided to turn down and learn to play with dynamics.
Its a work in progress.

Was reading through the section and saw this thread. Thought it time to post. I use the guitars and pedal board every week (Wed, Sat, Sun), but the amp is reserved for outside gigs and the "other" band...

Rhino-

Awesome setup you have! I love those old Marshalls, in any condition. I used to use my Silver Jubillee combo onstage until we got a house amp.

Is that a JTM 45 head, or what? The new 2061X heads look mighty attractive to me now, but my latest LP addition has depleted my gear budget for a while.

Is that a Scuderia Ferrari badge I see on the Tele? Forza Ferrari!!

The Marshall is a '71 Model 1986 (Bass) that was in pretty bad shape but I brought it back to life...and returned it to bone stock condition! The cab is an old 800 that has seen a few miles. I just can't bring myself to re-cover it as it will loose all the mojo!

Yup...a Ferrari badge that started coming off and I couldn't stand to see it in "less-than-perfect" condition so it lives on my suitcase under clear tape!

Well, I've held off posting here because I'm not yet a tele owner, although that changes today or tomorrow. But I have enjoyed this forum and really appreciate someone having the sense to make this a part of TDPRI. I play in a large church; we just opened our new auditorium which seats 2,400 currently (the balcony is constructed for expansion, but we don't have seats up there yet - it'll bring the total capacity to 3,500). The sound is awesome, although I am still very mindful of stage volume. I've played in this church for about 7 years now, and also play local/regional gigs for a great singer/songwriter from church who's released a couple of albums. I love this ministry, and I always get so much more out of it than I could ever put into it, but isn't that how it always is with Him? Anyway, here's my reason for posting...a custom Nashville "Terrycaster" from Woosley Guitars: Swamp Ash with flame maple top in Gretsch Orange, pearl binding and guard, birdseye maple FAT neck, Rio Grande pups, Barden bridge and thin Nitro finish. My luthier is doing setup today and getting pics taken for his website, but I snapped a few the other day when I took it home to wire it up. Here it is!

...and here's the rest of the setup: Ernie Ball VP Jr>Bad Monkey>SD-1>Crunch Box>Small Stone>Guyatone MD3>Digiverb>AC15 with JJs from Eurotubes and the bright cap mod. Pretty durn simple, really. Built the board myself, but I'm thinking I need another delay, a fuzz, a comp and maybe something swirly...ohh, the GAS....

Welcome! The soul of your sound is in your hands, not the equipment, bro.
I could absolutely get by with my Tele and my Music Man amp. O.K., perhaps my Fulltone OCD (Thanks Shannon!) for some color. Nothing wrong with honoring Jesus in your music with "just" that acoustic!

Blessings....

hey, everyone!

I just found this forum and am glad to see an organized group of tele-holics!

this is my current rig...

'96 American tele w/ 4-way switch (the only mod so far) and an ancient Ampeg Gemini1

and this is the current version of the pedal board (always changing)

Finally remembered to stick a camera in my pocket a couple weeks ago. Here's what I'm currently running...

The guitars vary week to week, but they'll always include an acoustic (here an Omega MJ02 I've had for almost 9 years), a Vinetto Artifact SC63 (I'll always have at least one of these with me - I also have an SC50, an SC63SH and a DC60), and in this pic a Gibson John Lennon Tribute (real nice guitar - love the CC pickup).

My "rig", as it is, consists of a homemade pedalboard containing (at this moment and in order) a Boss Tu-2, a Timmy, a Keeley modded Boss DS-1, a stock Boss SD-1, a Keeley modded Sparkle Drive, a DLS EchoTAP delay (great Analog Delay pedal), and a Boss GE-7 that gets used either as a solo boost or to shape the acoustic tone depending on what the setlist is. I'm real happy with this setup, but there are more OD pedals at home that occasionally make it on, including 2 modded Boss BD-2's, an old Barber Direct Drive and I just picked up a Fulltone GT-500 that I'm getting used to. All this gets powered by a VL Pedal Power 2+ and it fits nicely into a pistol case I bought off eBay for handy transportation and use at home with real amps.

From there it goes into a Line 6 Pod XT Live, usually set on a BF Vibrolux model or an AC-30, with an occasional Tweed Bassman. The only onboard effects I use are the chorus or the trem (one or the other - I can't program both) and a digital delay. I also have a clean boost on each preset for solos in case the GE-7 is being dedicated to the acoustic that day. My acoustic will run through the Pod as well, but I turn the amp model off and use only the effects. The Pod out goes to a DOD 265 direct box and out to the house.

On my music stand I have a percussion tray which is extremely handy for holding a slide, E-Bow, pics, capos, keys and other stuff.

You can get chorus and trem with your PODXTL! It's a bit of a work-around, but you can use the Analog w/mod delay with the Feedback turned all the way down and the mod (chorus) set how you like it. Mix has to be set to 50%. Then you can use Mod to add Tremolo or Phaser and stuff. I've got a patch with it, and I'll see if I can post a link to where I found it at.

and here's the page with an explanation of it

As far as gear, I don't have any picks of my setup at church (never actually thought to take any). But here's some of it at home.

Never thought to do that. I don't mix the two effects too often, particularly in one song where I'd want them both accessible, but it seems like a cool way to get both. I always wished you could assign Mod effects to the Stomp button as well, but no dice there.

Here is all my gear at church. Not usually laid out like this, but just to show what I might use. I probably use each guitar about the same. Usually only 1 electric and 1 acoustic out on stage on Sunday morning though.

Order from left to right
American Breedlove Custom (Cedar Top, Rosewood B/S) (Main Acoustic)
Gibson SG Standard
American Telecaster Highway One (Daphne Blue and Upgraded to Deluxe Pickups)
Fender SuperSonic
American Telecaster Deluxe
Taylor 314 (Sitka Top, Koa B/S)

Also the pedal board in the front, with a few pedals on it that I like to mess with.

I mostly use the blues driver with my electric...Probably the most versatile pedal i've ever owned.

We mic my amp with a Sure Beta 87.

Tone isn't to bad on stage, but is compressed somewhat due to low amp volume. The tubes don't really work well at low volume, but sounds better than all the direct into P/A things i've worked on.

You can see my amp in the background here. I need a pic of my board, but it has a Zendrive, ProCo Rat, Dunlop Slash wah, Line 6 DL4, Boss DD-5, Holy Grail Reverb, Keeley Compressor(4 knob), Keeley Nova Wah, and Boss TU-2 tuner.

Of course, you can also see my 3 favorite guitars- all by Mr. Bill Crook.
