Recording My Tele with processors verses miked tube amps
Hay Ya'll
I have been into home recording for about 15 years and use to be into it big time and use to subscribe to electronic musician to try to stay on top of latest technology but have really slacked last few years.
I'm trying to brush up to get ready to do a little recording for a CD with the Southern Gospel Group I been playing with and will probably mostly use my Hwy 1 Tele which has really captivated my guitar attention lately.
I did some recording sampeling last week and tried two of my old processors for direct recording and my modified Pignose G40V with a mic. I tailored some patches especially for my Tele on the processors to sound close as possible to my favorite tube amps. I've got a country swing instrumental track on my digital orchritrator Pro recording program I used to A/B and compare. The processors sounded suprisingly good but
for overall out front tele tone the miked set up sounded better. Of course my old Art ECC and Zoom 707 are kind off low grade behind the times. I love the convinenace of the processors. I had to use downward expansion with my DBX compressor noise gate to get rid of amp noise but still with that the tone was excellent
and the processors were duller. Just want to prepare for recording and do my best for the Lord.
I welcome your comments from those into this and have experiance with the latest toys---of course I may not be able to afford---them but it would be nice to know. God Bless, Plate
