Request for prayer
I wish to ask as many of you who will to pray for my family and myself - i have been backslidden and am in the process of repenting and restoration.
i want to outline my situation abit, because it could be a big help to somebody, you might know a person who is as i have been. if this post is not appropriate for this site, then i am sure the moderators can delete it. my wife and i were saved in 1985. we started out with a great passion and determination to serve Our Lord with all our hearts. after awhile, we unknowingly came under a severely legalistic set of teachings. Then, a respected man of God, a man who consciously presented himself as an exemplar of everthing a follower of Christ should be, stood in his pulpit, with tears in his eyes, and said "...the Holy Spirit said to me 'you're not going to make it'" i didn't realize it that day, but that man had just killed my spirit -if he wasn't going to make it, what the heck hope was there for me? i had forgotten over the years ever even having heard him make that silly statement, but the Holy Spirit recently brought it to my memory and showed me how much it had hurt me. From that day, my joy and strength and hope started sapping away. Understand, i had very great respect for that man. i didn't know what i know now: Men of God are often just as screwed up as we are, or more. And that if you see something in a man that seems to be arrogance, it IS arrogance. anyhow, that man, within a year or so, was caught in public sin. but by that time, i didn't care what he did because my spirit was already poisoned and bitterness was settling in on me. You see, offense collects offense. poison calls to poison. then followed some miserable years. this past Thanksgiving, i broke my foot and have been off work. the Lord put a book in my hand titled the Bait of satan by John Bevere. This book, being used by the Holy Spirit is changing my life. the book is about offenses and how they damage us. if you have a backslidden freind who is mad at the church, this is the book they should read ASAP. God is really working at a deep level in me, i beleive, i feel some wonderful things -i feel for the first time in a long time that God really loves me! So i ask that you would pray that i can stand and walk in the Truth for the rest of my life. Thanks |

Prayer request
A great thing about God is His unchanging nature. No matter how far we might drift from Him, He's still just a whisper away. I joined this forum just so I could respond to you and let you know that there are people who care, and more importantly, how very much God cares. He cares enough to have me stumble onto your request and to pray for you and your wife. I was just looking for some info on an amp; I had never been to this website and can't even tell you how I found you. Anyway, I did and will continue to pray. Just remember to never put any hope or trust in any man. Trust only in Christ Jesus; He will never, ever let you down!

thunderbyrd,
I'm sorry to hear you went through that. Its rough when that happens. I saw something similar happen to my sister-in-law, and it even rocked my faith for a while. If anyone, and I mean anyone comes and tells you something like that, and I dont care who they are, they are not God, and ONLY God can make that call. Look at all the horrible things King David did, and still God Loved him, and he was forgiven. Murder, adultery, lying, feigning insanity, yet he recvognized he was wrong, fell on his face before God, and God redeemed him. Father, I ask that You reveal to my brother, just how close too him You truly are, and open his ears, so he can hear You call his name, as a father alls in Love His childs name. In Jesus name, amen.

t-byrd...
It's always helped me to remember what Paul wrote : 2 Tim. 2:13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; for He cannot deny Himself. Yet, even more....remember the words of our Lord... John 10:28-29 and I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them out of My hand. [29] "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. God bless and keep you, friend!
