Bluegrass Gospel Tabs?
The music director at my church has asked me to play a solo next Sunday. This is really not that big of a problem for me as I've done it before. The problem is that I've used up all my best material before! I really don't want to play something I've done before and I don't have time to work out a new arrangement before the weekend.
Does anyone know of any good sites that have a lot of bluegrass gospel tabs? I'm looking for something old and traditional that about everyone would know but not Amazing Grace, Will the Circle be Unborken or I'll Fly Away or something. Something old but not done by everyone, I'm hoping someone here can help me out.

alltabs.com
http://www.alltabs.com/gospel_tabs.php has plenty to choose from. You will probably need to download tabledit first (www.tabledit.com), which is a useful program in many ways, giving fingerings, arranging MIDI tunes for tab etc.

Curses, foiled again....
I'm at work and can't download/intall programs (i.e. TabEdit) I did pull a few tabs down in regular format, but still haven't found what I'm looking for. Thanks though.

Bluegrass Gospel Tabs
This will probably be too late for the Sunday you need your solo. But thought I'd pass on a couple sources for these kind of tabs so you can be ready for the next one.
Steve Kaufman has written a bunch of instructional stuff for guitar. http://www.firebottle.com/flatpik/ I have "flatpicking the gospels". It's pretty good. Contains many of the gospel standards. Steve also has a video, Christmas and an in depth book/CDs called "20 Songs Every Parking Lot Picker Should Know". The later is on my list, but at $70, it'll be a while before I get it. This one contains beginner, intermediate and advanced solos for each of the 20 songs. Also all this stuff is intended for acoustic guitars since bluegrass is all acoustic. Hope that helps. Dave

Another source you might look at is Emmy Lou Harris' CD, "Angel Band". Ten or twelve gospel tunes, played bluegrass style. Vince Gill on mandolin and background vocals. Killer, and it will bless you, too.

Bluegrass Gospel Source
Hi to all:
I have Vol. 1 & 2 of the Marty Stuart / Bill Gaither project: Bluegrass Homecoming DVD's. There's a wealth of material from the masters on these DVD's. Doug. |
