I use my laptop, but only for controlling my fx pedal during rehersal and so I can switch the next song into my in-ear monitor when I forgot what the next song sounds like.....and I have to do the intro lead...... A few other guys and girls in the band use a laptop for the music.

We use PlanningCenterOnline at my church. A couple of us have iPads. I use it mainly to practice at home, but have used it on stage as my music stand. It's nice having all the music in one spot and not have to organize it all and have loose pieces of paper, but it's also hard for my eyes to see sometimes. Great app overall though!

My favorite thing about my iPad is now I can easily carry what used to be over 20lbs in folders and music books. |

So why dont you just take it with you when you walk off the stage? We have two or three guys at my church who use their iPads for reading charts and they love it. Personally, the screen's a little small for me.

I use an iPad app called OnSong. The developer was involved in worship so knows what works. It took a little bit of time to get my initial charts in. Now it's easy and I use it especially when traveling to do worship. You can save sets, transmit them to other band members who have iPads, and even control the whole lot from one iPad. You can get blue tooth foot pedals although it is fairly easy, with the tap of a finger, to go through the set.

We use PlanningCenterOnline as well. Have you upgraded (I think $10.00 for your church license) to use "Music Stand"? This has really changed how I use my iPad in worship. YouTube has a "tutorial" on it. Pretty good app from the PlanningCenter guys. |

Yea, we have MusicStand too and it is very handy. Still a little too small for my eyes if it's very far away, but I usuall try to memorize the music anyway. Using music usually just messes me up more than it helps me. Very handy for practicing though, especially now that they incorporated the mp3 player into MusicStand.
