Dress Code!!!
Does your church suggest a dress code?
Ours is as laid back as you can get. out of 180 people you might see 1 jacket and tie....and it won't be the pastor 50% of the time. T-shirts and holy jeans are just fine for Sunday morning. The people on stage are expected to wear someting a little better. Nice jeans are fine, but no t-shirts. |

No dress code at our church!
And I for one, like it like that. I'm pretty casual, so it's usually a nice pair of jeans and a buttondown shirt fro me. Some older people wear suits, but mostly it's pretty casual. My wife get's dressed up, but that's just her way. She always dresses and looks very nice. Sometimes I dress with slacks or dockers and a nicer shirt just so she does not look like shes with a bum! She really does not care what I wear, but I will dress a bit nicer for a holiday or a special service. While it's casual at our church, no one is sloppy or disrespectful in their dress.

jeans and tshirt fine on stage
The only problem is my church is so casual it's pretty much a dress code itself. I'd like to wear my suit once in a while but it would get suprised looks. Maybe I'll wear it anyway just to be a rebel.
Cheers Matt

I think it's great. Ours is very laid back. We have Unchained Motorcycle Ministries and have been tagged "the biker church". I tell folks when I invite them, you'll see more hair, tattoos and leather than you've seen for a long time. Truly a people who know they've been saved!

One of the reasons our church dress code is laid back is because we are nextdoor to a drug rehab center. We invite "patients" to church every Sunday. We have between 5 - 20 every Sunday. We want them to feel welcome.
One of the patients was invited by the pastor's wife on a Tuesday when she went over to visit. He promptly told her that they weren't ready for him, his long hair and tattoos. She told him to come anyway. He took the "I'll shock them" attitude. He put on a black heavy metal T-shirt, put his long hair in a ponytail and came to church on Sunday. Instead of shock he got a big hug from an 80 year old lady. She invited him to sit next to her. Needless to say HE was the one who was shocked. |
