Please keep this section open!

Just wanted to throw out a request (& hopefully get some other members support).

First let me say I love TDPRI as a forum. While I occasionally visit other pages or take short breaks from here few days go by that I don't stop in to see how things are going. I feel as an online community it's rare in it's appreciation & acceptance of one another. Where I find fights, anger & single minded judgmental-ism on other forums, I find genuine comradery here on TDPRI, I know we're not perfect but it's the best I've found. The views expressed here typically resonate with me & I like the tempo & flow of discussions. Overall it's a great place & by far my favorite site to spend time on.

Now, as a "worship service player" myself, I like this particular section alot. It's not as fast paced due to it's fairly specific players list but it's valuable to me personally, & I believe to others. It is true that all venues are different & that they all have their own needs but I do think there is justification in having a section for "Worship Service Players". Not only do we all share "similar" restrictions/needs but (for the most part) we have similar musical leanings & styles. This combined with the venue restrictions (I believe) makes for a unique enough situation that discussions about gear would simply get too muddy if had in other sections of this great forum. As for those people who step over the line, do to them as you see fit but please don't punish the rest of us for (what I hope/believe) is a handful of people who can't follow the rules. Please know that there are people who appreciate this sections & want/do follow the rules, we understand that it's a privilege to post on TDPRI & we're happy to follow your guidelines.

There...end of plea. I did consider simply sending this as a private message to the admin people but then I thought..."this is a forum made for public discussion, why not post it publicly & let others join in to support this section"

THANKS!

Keep it open, please. There's obviously a need for this subforum, since folks are self-selecting it. Occasionally. posters step over the line, which isn't surprising given the nature of the subject, but people seem generally cool with it and don't overreact.

Um...didn't realize it was here. Now that I know I'll go study it intently. I play in a contemporary worship band every week, can't wait to go see what I've been missing in the worship forum section.
Thanks.

I don't read in this subforum much but i think it's great for the ones that do, so i'll sign on the dotted line.

Shut it down. It inevitably ends up with posts about religious beliefs/theology.

Then again, *any* thread that grows long enough will mention ****s or Hitler (Godwin's Law).

Take a look at the current threads. It doesn't look bad to me. And the thing that causes certain topics to be verboten (woops!) is that they inevitably lead to flame wars, and I don't see that happening here, either.

Perhaps posters should be more mindful that they're largely in a specific subset, Contemporary Christian Music, and that excludes a lot of other flavors of Christians and, by definition, non-Christians. I don't play bass, but I don't feel like an interloper in the bass forum. I hope it's the same way here.

I'm not a church-goer, but I do find this sub-forum a valuable resource for all things low-volume. For issues like playing direct-to-PA, or using emulators like Line 6 products, I have found valuable info here. The posters are generally articulate in their reviews, and even post when sober, unlike other forums. :) Also, they also actually own or have used the equipment in volume-sensitive setting, so I give their advice due credence.

I vote keep it.
