CCC has one Saturday night and two Sunday morning services. Each has an average of 500 in attendance. Now, where's that old caculator of mine....
CCC also has a Wednesday evening youth service, a Hispanic congregation, a Friday evening Jr Hi group and a Sunday evening college age group. Total weekly attendance for everything is ~2K. Of course, during Christmas and Easter, attendance is doubled. In periods of terrorist attacks, it triples. |

2500-3000 between 2 services at 9 and 11. We used to have a Saturday night service that we dropped about 2 years ago. This is the service that hooked me about 10 years ago. We are experiencing terrific growth and I'd sure like to see it brought back.

Church size
We have about 170 to 220 every Sunday. This last Sunday however, I counted 49 people ( including a lot of children ) as most were out of town for the holiday. We usually have 10 to 12 people in the worship team each service. There was only the other guitar player, the conga/horn player and myself this last Sunday!

3 Services - 3 Music Styles...
G'Day fellas...
8am service - about 80 people, hymns with organ. Older congregation. 9.30am - about 120 - families & baby boomers (including me), amix of old and new songs, 2 worship teams (2 weeks on / 2weeks off per month) - singersguitar, bass, trombone, violin, sax often youngsters just starting to play in an ensemble setup. Oh yeah... a Steinway piano too. It's not ours - it's on long term loan from a local philanthropist. 6.30pm - up to 150 mostly young people - the full rock band experience (without the attitude and posturing). Almost all contemporary P&W songs. If you can't find a style that fits you here you're not really trying! :D bj |

Wahwax,
The leader is a full timer, I think his title is Worship Director. The core team is comprised of about 40 players and singers. Most are on about twice a month. There are 6 or so guitarists rotating, 2 or 3 each week. The leader plays guitar and piano (when needed). Not sure how we would pull it off without email. |

Just over 1000 between 2 Sunday morning services.
Full-time worship leader/music pastor/choir director. Praise team: 2 guitars, bass, drums, 2 keys, brass section, wind section, violin. Choir (~50) and multiple vocal ensembles.

Hmm..
I can't even comprehend going to a Church that large. My church averages about 120 or so. I've been the choir director there for about 5 years. I've been going there since I was 2 yrs old. It was founded by an ancestor of mine. The pastor is the only one paid. We are a small country Church (Methodist). But we have bass and drums every service. I'm always distracted when I go to large churches it seems! I get contracted a few times a year to come play for the larger churches, which I enjoy greatly. But for worshipping I prefer smaller, quainter settings! :D

I went to a church conference in Tulsa a few weeks ago and there were 3 different sessions. Before each session there was a whole different set of players an singers doing P/W. Only 1 backup singer was in all 3 groups she played key in the first group. 3 Leaders (1 guitar 2 keys), 3 guitarists, 3 bassists, 3 drummers, 3 keys, about 6 BGV. Their Sunday mornings were very large attendance, several thousand.
I only wish we had a pool of musicians to draw from. It's getting better over the las few months. |
