Poll: Favorite Contemporary (or not) Christian Artist

What I mean by 'or not', it can be country, P&W, Classic (Hymn's), etc..

Here are a few of mine:

Darrell Mansfield Band: great Blues/Rock!

All Together Seperate ( now broken up)

Lincoln Brewster: excelent guitarist! I'd rank him as one of the best, Christian or secular!

Third Day: another good Blues/Rock band!

I got a lot of others, this is just near the top of my list!

So lets hear what your listenin too!

My all time favorite is Third Day. They are great music wise and their songs really brings a message as to what they are all about. I have seen them 5 times in concert. If they come near you, be sure to go , you want regret it. I also like some others mention, such as Jennifer Knapp and Lincoln Brewster(use to be Steve Perry's guitar player when he left Journey). And without a doubt, Phil Keaggy has got to be one of the greatest guitar player ever. I have more but these are my favorite.

My favorites are the ones that are recording secular music...Peter Case, Maria McKee, Sam Phillips, T-Bone Burnett, Victoria Williams, The Millers... I'm not very interested in much CCM stuff, Mark Heard and Steve Taylor excepted, and we don't play much of it in church even though we have pretty contemporary services.

Jay, good list... don't forget

Van Morrison.

His body of work from "Sense of Wonder" thru "Hyms to the Silence" has a great "personal devotion" vibe and authenticity to it.

I've not seen Big Tent Revival mentioned, I can play the live CD for days on end! I love that big greasy guitar sound!

Kenny Greenberg

Ashley Clevland's husband/guitarist/producer Kenny
Greenberg is an awesome player, bluesy with thick tone
and soul. Mixed with Ashley's rockin blues voice it
couldn't be a better combo. If you haven't checked out
one of her recordings please do. Her site is at
www.ashleycleveland.com for samples.

PraiseCaster,

I have to say that Third Day and Michael W. Smith are two of my favorite artists!

I'm hopefully going to see Third Day in concert on September ^th of this year in Hiawasse, Georgia at the Anderson Music Hall! It will be my first Third Day concert and I'm really thrilled about getting to see them in concert for the first time.

Take Care,
Tony

Have seen and heard quite a few Christain musicians.. for the most enjoyable was seeing Wes King perform by himself with an acoutic guitar...
He has an excellent voice and his playing on his albums does not come close to what he does live.
Petra / w Pete Orta
Steven Curtis Chapman
Phil Keagy
Keagy King & Dente
just to name a few.....

I've been a fan of Bebo Norman. Very nice folk singer-songwriter. Not totally unrelated anyone into gospel enough to know who Kirk Franklin's guitar player is? Now that cat can play some funk!
