line 6 floor processors?
are the line 6 line of multi-effects boards the best(most used)option in a p&w setting when no amps are use?
is there other affordable options of similar or better quality? im starting to have a brain melt-down looking at all of the available options. im not sure i want to follow the pack and get a line 6 floor processor, i'm thinking (with no hands on experience) that i would like to use a zoom g2, g2.1, g7.1 etc... processor. slowly going insane! ![]()

I like my line6 POD XT Live. I like the ability to quickly change my sound completely. If I were to make a pedalboard to do the same thing, it would definitely be considerably more expensive. That said, I don't radically change my sound that often. My current favorite patch is a AC-15 model, with some reverb and the amp gain cranked up about 75%. I could probably do the same thing with a sans amp Liverpool, some kind of spring reverb tank and a probably a tube screamer, a crybaby and a volume pedal, I'd probably throw a SansAmp Blonde on the board too

They seem popular. The Pretenders were touring not long ago with Pods into a PA. I use a Vox Tonelab, but the Pods are easier to program via your PC. The only programming for the Vox is via MIDI, but the Pod supports a USB connection and an application that manages it. (very nice application, too. Handles all their hardware. Pod, toneport, guitarport)
Entry level, Line 6 Floor Pod is $149. The only one I've spent any amount of time on was the XT Live, and it sounded really good and felt sturdy enough. |

You can get a used POD 2.0 with Floorboard for under $200 on Craigslist -- massive value. They sound very good. (but not very great) I know a ton of really amazing guitarists who have rocked PODs at some point. I still own one I purchased new in 1998 and it works as well as the day I bought it -- I upgraded the EEPROM and voila.
Line 6 is an awesome company too, everytime I've dealt with them it went well. :) |

Lincoln Brewster uses a Line 6. Seems to get good results with it. And he has stated that he goes direct from it, only using the onstage amps as monitors.
I've used Digitech RPs for years. First a 100, then 300, now a 500. I like them.

We have an XT Live, and it works fine. The problem is in the monitoring. |
