Nashville tuning
Happy Sabbath to all. Our church, bad sound system by the way, just hired a new director and piano player. He is great but one of those that thinks all 88's need playing on almost all songs. I play acoustic and some electric. Not much sonic space left for a guitar. Does any one use Nashville tuning to cut through the mix?
Thanks for any help. |

In a band situation I have found the resonator often does not cut through like you would imagine... especially when there is a violin. The banjo on the other hand

Nashville
I had my guitar shop put on the high strings and adjust the truss rod.
I like the sound. I think it will go with accompanying our psalms and Mass parts like the Gloria and Alleluia. Doesn't seem like it will be good in accompanying the upbeat choir songs with drums and piano. Thanks for all the help. I'll let you know how it goes on Sunday after Mass. |

I took the plunge Sunday. I plugged my Taylor GC 8 into my amp and PA at church. To simplify things I only played this tuning during the entire mass. It worked great. I played less rhythm and more arpeggios and some lead. It was the first time my guitar could be head the entire service according to my wife, my gentlest critic. I am going to keep a second guitar in normal tuning starting next week. Thanks for all the help.
