Judgement day songs?
I've started collecting cover songs of dealing with the apocalypse, judegement day and such. I'm not sure where this is headed, but I'm pretty excited with these songs.
Here are some of the ones I've been working on: Johnny Cash: When the Man Comes Around Nina Simone (/16 Horsepower): Sinnerman Marianne Faithful (/trad.): Sign of Judgement Woven Hand: Not One Stone Sufjan Stevens: Seven Swans Mary Gauthier: It Ain't the Wind, It's the Rain Uncle Tupelo: Satan, Your Kingdom Must Come Down I also found a bunch of really amazing traditional songs on a couple of Smithsonian Folkways collections. I'm still looking for songs. Any recommendations? |

There's a song that we used to sing called "Jesus Is Coming Soon". It always cracks me up when I think about it. The whole song was always sung sooo chipperly (yes, chipperly for lack of a better term) except for one line where it goes to a minor (while still singing all chipperly) "Many will meet their doom". I know that's probably not what you were looking for, but it's the first thing I thought of. I had to share.
If you're looking for non-church songs, I've always liked Waylon Jennings' "Revelation". While He may not have been a Christian, it's still an interesting song. It's a picture song. |

WARNING: I don't think you are meaning songs like this but I will throw it out there:
The Showdown anything off their first album "A Chorus of Obliteration" it is nothing but heavy riffing, double bass and pure screams about death and judgement. But once again I don't think you mean songs like these, sorry I couldn't really help.
