Bose L1 Model I Dual System/Dual Bass Package
I run sound for our contemporary service. We are planning on moving our contemporary service to Sunday mornings in the main sanctuary. A mid size church, 250 seats, with lots of glass and steel and soaring ceilings. The current sound system is an antique. I am considering using a Bose L1 Model I Dual System/Dual Bass Package as both the mains and the monitors for the band as well as the primary system for the traditional services. Any one else have experience with these units? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I remember playing at a church once with our band and they had us use one of those for the vocals and acoustic. I wasn't really impressed with it but maybe it was in the area that we were in. I'm a fan of the powered Mackie SMR 450. If you need monitors maybe it might be good to get the in ear set. Those Bose systems are pretty pricey and I think you can get a good PA that can handle more inputs and more expandable for much cheaper.
Just my 2 cents |

We're in an elementary school auditorium/cafeteria and just use some JBL powered EONs for mains and powered Behringer floor monitors, with a good sized Behringer mixer. A lot less $ than what you're proposing, and we send everything but the drums through it right now. It's just a temporary setup (we hope!). The main church has a 1000 seat sanctuary with a permanent installation, wireless headset monitors, etc. That's some serious $, there. |
