evil guitars?
Just a question that popped into my head.
What kind of guitar is totally unsuitable for a church band and why? Would a Dean Razorback be out of the question? Perhaps a BC Rich Warlock? |

IMO, and it's kind of funny, but I wouldn't play guitars wuith skulls and stuff on them. I don't have a problem with skulls and such but it's just not what I would do.
Now there are brands I wouldn't buy or take into a service. Schecter is the main one. everything about their website is so dark and gothic. Especially their "Hellraiser" model...

I dunno, unless the guitar has something offensive on it, I don't think it matters. As for Schecter, eh, not my bag, but I think I once read of a guy that used one, and covered up the hellraiser logo with tape, or something. Same with some pedal that had sort of a stupid name, just covered it up.
Now, you may look a little silly playing a Razorback at worship, but hey, if that is your thing... |

Not a church player here, but I have been to church (and I stayed at a Holiday Inn last nite
Do you wear your tattered jeans and death metal t-shirt to church? Then I wouldn't play a guitar that could potentially be construed as disrespectful or inappropriate in church, either. mud

Objects do not posess evil...images may be offensive but I don't see them being evil. appropriateness is the ??? or some could say those are evil chords your playing...some people even think any electric guitars in church are evil or that a certain beat is evil I just don't buy it. I play twice a week at church. I do wear my beatles T-shirt tho on teen night

I used to have a red SG that I took to Praise Band practice a couple of times, and I got some dirty looks from one of the female singers. I asked her what was wrong, and she said, "That Red, Satan horns guitar of yours!" She was half joking. I said, "What El Diablo here?!" She didn't laugh, and I got rid of the SG. Not because of her, but because it never was comfortable to play, and, at 6'3", 260, I looked like I was playing a ukelele!! LOL

In my opinion I think musicians shouldn't play instruments in this setting that draw attention to themselves. Imagine the piano player wanting to install one of those keyboard mirrors to show off their playing style.
