Hello from Mission, BC, Canada

I used this site often over the past year, researching a guitar I wanted to buy, learning all things Tele, Fender, etc.

Now I have finally purchased the Tele (2011 60th Anniversary Lefty), I wanted to join the group; it seems like such a friendly, helpful forum. Now I just need to relearn what I knew in high school, and hopefully progress into the Blues once my fingers feel more agile and comfortable! I actually bought the guitar so I could play with my two sons, who are already kicking my butt at 10 and 12 years of age! (Also, for those fathers out there: a great excuse for buying a nice guitar is one's children. Works for mountain bikes and golf clubs too! Shameless, I know, but it works.)

Steve

P.S. My avatar is not meant to be offensive; I just like the idea of one of the Tele's great proponents - and, against all odds, one of the longest living ones - fingering the universe, as if to say, "I'm still alive; the joke's on you!"

S.

Whereabouts? I just returned from Kelowna. I love the Interior; if I could find a teaching job almost anywhere up there, I'd move!

Sorry, I just read your profile below your avatar. I wish I had joined the forum before going to Kelowna, so I could get a good recommendation from you for music shops. I must say, you definitely live in one of the most beautiful climates in the world! I can never get enough of the OK. My other expensive hobbies all work for that area, too: DH mountain biking, flyfishing, and golfing!

Kelowna's pretty wet right now. The lake is at "full pool" and the creeks are gushing.

If you are passing through Kelowna, stop at Wentworth Music. They have a wall of Teles!

I saw Wentworth Music as I was driving into town (we stayed at Best Western). Darn, I should have stopped! A whole wall of Teles? Nice.

Welcome! Love BC - lived in Abbotsford for 9 years! Best province in Canada - so diverse in weather and geography!

Being a sucker for punishment, I moved home to Newfoundland..... :)

Welcome - a mission person and a lefty guitar player to boot! Not enough of us lefties
Same boat as you - trying to relearn everything I used to know but I realize now I sucked then and haven't progressed beyond that.
My kids are still a little to young to use the same excuses for purchases that benefit me- damn.
So far I have found all the folks here pretty helpful and friendly.
