A Question for Tele Experts...

I just bought a telecaster on Ebay. Shop says it is a 2004 model. It's yellow. See photo. Reverse switchplate and humbucker at neck position. Brass saddles. Store doesn't know what kind of humbucker. What do I have here? What model? I got it because one, I want the tele twang from the bridge pickup but I want the range of the humbucker at the neck. And I like yellow teles. It's Mexican.

Welcome. What is the serial number? That might help identify the model. Nice yellow.

That's a guitar that was altered or "modded" by some cat. You'd think that the e-bay seller would've made that clear. Having the neck PU backwards as well as the control plate, is some quirky deal. Easily set back to "normal".

I will also add, that I have bought a handful of axes off of e-bay over the years. I never buy altered or modded ones. I want to be the one who "wisely" changes something, not some unknown person with ???? skill level & knowledge.

That being said, I'm sure that you can get the guitar to play & sound pretty well with some little work. Good luck!

I knew it was modded by someone but I was trying to figure out what it was originally. I like the old style saddle and the reverse switchplate. I am cool with that. I would assume it was a standard MIM but it's yellow. I didn't think you could get that color in a standard. The serial number is MZ4013486.

Looks good whatever it is. Probably someone's approximation of a "Keef".
