Tele Neck Pick up
Hello, I'm trying to decide which single coil pick to buy. I have a custom made solid maple Tele with a 58 humbucker in the bridge position a warmoth neck, sperzeil tuners... any help? I also own a 54 es225 gibson, a 55 gretsch corvett a Taylor 310ce.. Nice to be here..

Well, Mike, first of all, a big Western Howdy!
Second of all, I'm not sure where you're going with your tone. The Tele neck pickup is probably one of the biggest mysteries of the universe. There are so many variations on the tone that it's difficult at best to pick one. Steve Cropper's neck tone is the one I go for, but you get some that go for a more Stratty tone and some that are so rolled off they might as well be a bridge pickup rolled all the way back. So, where are you headed? For the record, my favorite Tele neck pickup was the one in my long gone 83 USA Tele. One that really gets close is the Chandler Super 60, which, as I understand it, is no longer being made. |
