"Taken by Tele"
At 15 I bought a '63 Strat--"just give me one in the box!" Extenuating circumstances forced me to sell it a few years back. My Gibson 345 and J50 met with domestic abuse. Now making my way back with a MIM Tele which I hope to remodel some, beginning with lockdown tuners(maybe) and a humbucker in at least one position. All suggestions would be welcome. The Tele just felt right and fit my budget. Love the solid feel of the body...heavy...almost like a black beauty. The neck won out over the Strats big time. Lookin' forward to listening and learning from you guys.

Welcome to the forum. The MIM's are routed for a humbucker in the neck so you shouldn't have any trouble putting one in there.

Hey guys, I'm new to the site and am looking forward to learning EVERYTHING! I've acquired a black MIM from my significant other (what a gift) and have spent quite a bit of $$$ in mods-a bone nut replacing the stock plastic one, Callaham vintage bridge, Dimarzio True Velvet pickups, fret crowning and dressing, had the tone controls reversed with the pu selector towards the butt end of the body and after all these mods yes it's now a tonemonster (truely) but it doesn't have the same playability and sustain as a Highway One Texas Tele I once picked up. I know some players hate em and that's okay, it spoke to me. My question is this, I already have in excess of $800 in my baby and I can only think of going one step further by either having it refretted with jumbo frets (my tech said it would be over $300) or buying a new neck. It's hard to find a music shop where I am that has an array of different type of necks. I'd like to be able to try out various necks but Fender has pretty much been slapping on that 9.5 radius on nearly everything they make. I don't wanna just fork out bucks for a neck sight unseen. Suggestions?
