Old guy but new member...gettin back into it
Hi everyone
I'm an older guy, played professionally for many years and then then only off and on for the past 20 years or so. I'm an old style blues/rock lover...can't seem to shake it.... Sold most of my old gear (1970 Les Paul Custom and more), and recently lent a Mexican strat and P bass to a friend up north, leaving me with a semi- butchered pre-serial number Les Paul junior and a DIY tele of sorts. The tele, if you call it that, is a homemade job. I taught a cnc course a few years back and we reverse engineered the body from an early 60's tele. I ended up cutting one out of solid mahogany, bought a mighty m maple neck, all gold hardware (stewmac) and a pair of SD P90-2's. I just rewired it for some interesting sounds, including settings that combine the 2 single coil pu's into one giant humbucker, including series/parallel and in and out of phase modes. Just love the sounds from it, even if it isn't an actual true tele. Here's a picture of it if anyone is interested. ![]() I'm really liking how this baby plays and sounds....super low action and sounds sweet thru a little Cube 40 xl I look forward to checking out what everyone here is up to...!! With all the definitions and variations in models now, both from Fender, and from "T-type" guitar makers....that's defintiely a Tele and looks great! Must be fun getting back into it!.
I knew 5 out of the 7 classic chords in High School and could also play Barre chords, (both E & A form), and played in a basement band from '71-'74. I didn't pick up a guitar again until my son's guitar lessons in '06. If nothing else, now I at least know more chords. Keep it going!

Welcome, hope you enjoy it here.
I am about your age, I quit in 1992, and started back about 2008 or so, big mistake to quit playing, I've never regained my past abilities. I've just recently quit playing again (arthritis dictates what I can do now), but it doesn't change my love for music.
