Greetings from Norway!
A big warm hello from Norway
I´m a 34 year old boy living together with my girlfriend in Oslo, Norway, burried deep in the winter snow of Scandinavia. I make my living working as an airline pilot. I´ve been playing guitar since 1991 and music is one of my dear passions. I own several nice guitars which I play regularily, all of them. I mostly play them through an ENGL Invader head on top of an ENGL 4x12 cabinet loaded with V30´s. This is a high gain amp but covers all sorts of styles nicely. Everyting from metal to Marshall-ish old school rock. Since I got my very first Telecaster today after wanting one for years, I really felt like joining this great looking community. I sat down in my local guitar store and played through three Teles for a long time: an American Deluxe, an American Special and an American Standard. The last one felt and sounded really good and ended up in my trunk I also include a photo of my most special guitar. It´s a DL-1 made by guitar luthier Hugh Manson and his crew in the South of England. It´s a Matthew Bellamy signature model. He is the singer/guitarist of MUSE and one of my biggest guitar heroes. There has only been made 25 of these guitars so far. Special features include a Z.Vex Fuzz Factory pedal built into the guitar and a polished aluminium top. Manson designs and builds all of Bellamy´s guitars. Really looking forward to being a part of this community! Hello Opie and welcome - this is a great site full of friendly people with fantastic advice, enjoy!
Nice guitars - what's with the extra knobs behind the bridge? I love Oslo btw, did some gigs over there a few years ago - knee-deep in snow, so beautiful. But how does anyone afford a drink?? How expensive is it over there?? |

The extra knobs are the controls for the Fuzz Factory. On/Off-switch and two knobs to tweak the effect of this truly crazy pedal. The hardware is machined aluminium by the way. Heavy stuff to twist. Ha ha yeah Norway is expensive. Around 10$ if you wanna grab a beer. That´s insane. Almost torture

The DL-1 depicted and almost all the guitars built for Matt Bellamy is what has become known as "Mattocasters". It is easy to spot that they derive their shape from the Fender Telecaster. The oversized Telecaster top horn has become a trademark of these guitars. Just a topic related fun fact

Sounds nice, in a way. All that salt and slush wasn't good at all.
No, I don't. I'm not allowed. Restrictions on how much you're allowed to carry with you onboard and not to speak of the nightmare if I'm not allowed to carry it on as cabin-luggage. Onboard we have a Fender Baja Tele, which is a guitar the ship owns. :-) |

I´ve had to send one of my guitars as checked baggage just once. It was my Strat, and luckily in a flight case. Still a nervewrecking experience. And the flight case really took a beating.

Hi!
I'm new on here too. That Muse guitar is crazy cool! Inspiring... I kind of want to f up a perfectly good guitar and do that too, now that I see that :) I played in Oslo once possibly twice a gagillion years ago with Of Montreal and maybe my band Marshmallow Coast. Such a cool city, and we're about the same age. I remember nearly crapping my pants on some of those super snowy take off and landings, but was assured that you guys do it all the time :) But mostly that is just one cool guitar Take care!

Thanks Andy!
Cool that you´ve been to Oslo. I watched some of your band on Youtube. Cool and laid back stage performance:-) I used to be a hardcore Indie fan, mostly listening to Scandinavian bands though. And on making a Muse-ish guitar, just go for it. A lot of guys have made their own versions, surgically inserting all kinds of effects and knobs.
