Greetings from Houston - Here is my story

Howdy ya'll...

I'm Allen, 46 years old, and I've lived in Houston all my life. In 1982 I graduated high school and that Summer I bought a 1969 Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Beauty and a Traynor 4x10 tube amp, both for $500. Since then I've always kept the Les Paul, but have gone thru many many other guitars and amps, always looking for that elusive "better tone".

My best friend lives in Austin, 150 miles away. He plays a Les Paul, and he loves his Marshall JTM45 Bluesbreaker combo amp. We've been jamming on the blues together for the last 15 years, once or twice a month. I started keeping my G&L ASAT tele guitar at his house in Austin, and I would play it thru my friends Vox tube amp.. I loved how that "tele" sounded so nice and complimentary to my friend's Les Paul. 5 years ago I bought a Fender American Ash Telecaster which has been my one and only favorite guitar to play ever since I got it.

My son plays bass guitar, he is amazing. Between us we had 14 guitars in the house at once point, but I've sold a few since that pic was taken. I've also bought and sold a few amps too.. and now I love playing thru my RI Super Reverb and Princeton amps.

My tele sounds great just plugged in straight into the amps.. but I also like to route the signal thru my pedal board at times too.

I've been mostly playing improv blues stuff the last 20 years, but now I've found myself in a new country type startup band situation that is forcing me to learn new styles of playing. I'm loving the telecaster thing tho.. The combo of tele into a nice fender tube amp is just hard to beat.

My name Big Bend is cause I've been out to Big Bend National Park over 30 times.. the most beautiful part of Texas. Go visit the area if you can.

Take care...

Allen

Howdy ya'll...

Thanks for the kind welcomes here. This is a great forum!

It has been too many years since I was last in a band... I've done some open mic blues jams, but mostly just playing with family and friends for the last 20 years. Now me and 3 other guys are just getting started on a new band which should be great fun. After that, yes, the plan is to play quite a bit around Texas.

Take care... Allen
