Lemme see. I've been playing guitar for several years, bass, and six string acoustic and electric. Played some piano when I was a kid. Wish I had a piano now. Haven't played in a gigging band in a long time, though occassionally play in public. I like what most folks like: R&R, R&B, Blues (Delta and big city), jazz (all of it: bee-bop, swing, cool, funk), Blue Grass, Old Timey, Old ballads, gospel, C&W (especially the old stuff), some indie stuff. I even like the occasional pop tune. I don't like thrash metal, but I've been known to listen to rap and hip-hop.

I consider myself a so-so player. I practice regularly, but I aint no Telemeister. I sometimes think about getting a small gigging band together. I know a lot of good players, but we all seem so tied up with being grownups.

I'm a writer and professor of English at a small liberal arts college and a single dad with three kids (two in college). Two of them play music, I am happy to say.

I have one Tele, a Mexican 69 Thin-line reissue (payed 475). It's my favorite electric guitar. (I have four besides the Tele: Gib LP Jr., Melody Maker, and Taylor Classic.) My Tele has been hotrodded with El Torres PU's, Bumblebee cap, 500 CTS pots, new jack plate and Switch Craft jack, vintage Fender three-way switch, locking tuners, new shielding, Calahan bridge and saddle, and a bone nut (just to make it purty). I love it and think it sounds and plays pretty damn good, if I do say so myself.

Oh yea, I also have two acoustics (Larrivee and a Guild) and an old Mexican Fender Jazz Bass.

I guess that's about it. I'm glad to be here.
