TundraTone Custom 3-Tone Heavy Relic Strat

TundraTone Custom 3-Tone Sunburst Relic/Aged Stratocaster*!

TundraTone Custom Guitars - Built from only the finest components available (nothing "off the shelf" here!), equipped with Rumpelstiltskin handwound pickups, MJT vintage finish bodies and necks, TundraTone electronics (of course), hard or soft shell cases (depending on model) and expertly setup and ready to play. Each guitar is meticulously assembled and setup and each and every guitar has a a minimum of 30 hours of labor and love in it! All guitars come with a free t-shirt and an exclusive harness swap guarantee. If for any reason, you want to try a different harness (3-way, 4-way or 5-way) within the first 90 days from date of purchase, just let us know and we'll exchange it for you!

Features
  • 3-Tone Sunburst heavy relic finish by MJT (Mark and Matt Jenny) Finishes. 100% nitrocellulose finish - aged to perfection to look like a road weary 50 year old guitar.
  • Alder body by Wildwood MFG
  • Musikraft Fat-C S-style neck - 1" at the first fret to 1" at the twelfth fret. 9.5" radius, 1 5/8" width at the nut. 21 medium frets (.095" x .047") frets and hand-rolled fretboard edges for easy and comfortable play.
  • Aged vintage Kluson style tuners
  • Rumpelstiltskin Handwound "Pre-CBS" Stratocaster* pickups! Neck pickup is 6.16k, middle pickup is 6.17k and the bridge is 6.77k. These pickup use materials and windings you would find commonly on mid 1950's to mid 1960's Strats. Hand wound with heavy build formvar wire with alnico 5 magnets and black vulcanized fiber flatwork. Output and tone is classic Strat! Just the right amount of treble and mids for that slightly warm and clear classic Strat tone.
  • All body cavities meticulously lined with copper foil to combat noise.
  • All guitars come with aged Dunlop straplocks and buttons as well as the stock, aged buttons
  • All hardware hand aged to look like a 50 year old guitar
  • TundraTone 5-way Stratocaster* harness with RS Guitarworks 250k Superpot on volume and CTS 10% 250k for tone with NOS ITW paper and poly film cap. 5-way CRL switch wired in typical 5-way Stratocaster* style
  • D'Addario EXL110 (010-.046) strings installed
  • KACE Tweed hardshell case with red crushed velvet lining and a large storage compartment included
  • Guitar weighs under 8 lbs and is loud and resonant unplugged!
  • Comes with a laminated COA (certificate of authenticity) with all technical details of your guitar and its setup
  • FREE TundraTone t-shirt in your size! (M-XXL)

This RG Tribute heavy aged Stratocaster* is really a thing of beauty. I wanted to build one now for some time, and am glad I finally did! Rumpelstiltskin pickups are some of the finest handwound pickups you can get. Other pickups may have more name recognition, but mark my words - that's only temporary. All Rumpelstiltskin pickups are hand-wound using only the finest materials and skill. Toss in Aaron's knowledge and you've got the makings of some of the best pickups you're going to hear anywhere. The mid 50s - early 60s output and tone of the "Pre-CBS" set is pure classic Stratocaster*. Each pickup is powerful and clear sounding on its own with that glassy Stratocaster* sound. The bridge is strong, bright and clear but not the least bit dirty. The middle pickup has a rounded, bright and very clean tone, while the neck pickup is rich and bluesy without sounding dark or muddy at all. The "in between" 2 & 4 positions have plenty of that classic Stratocaster* "quack". These pickups sound equally great with or without effects! The middle pickup is RWRP for noise cancellation when either the bridge and middle or neck and middle pickups are selected (positions 2 & 4).

The Musikraft neck is, in a word, great! This neck doesn’t play like it’s one inch thick at the first fret due to the 1 5/8” nut width. Those of you that know the comfort of a fat neck already know the other reason to have a neck with some girth - tone. The larger chunk of timber means more sustain, and the large necks really are easier to play in the long run, IMHO. Speaking of sustain, this Strat* will not let you down. Clean or with some overdrive, notes sustain for as long as you need. The satin finish of the heavy aged body feels great under your arm without the usual stickiness associated with sweating on a hot stage with a smooth finish.

The 5-way harness gives you the usual Strat* positions. The positions are (from back to front):
  • Bridge only (normal Strat*)
  • Bridge and Neck in parallel (normal Strat*) complete with a bright quack!
  • Middle pickup only
  • Middle pickup and neck pickup, giving you a fatter quack
  • Neck pickup only. Fatter sound for those great for bluesy solos

This guitar is setup, stage ready and just waiting for musician! You will not be disappointed! It has been assembled with the same care and attention to detail as all of our products.
