Don't Call On Me Now

A little old style folk/country/bluesy song I wrote a month or so back. Played on an acoustic (Seagull) with lead on a Tele. I'm interested in constructive criticism on any aspect - I'm really trying to improve as a songwriter and player so don't feel awkward pointing out weaknesses.

Thanks in advance,
Josh

I liked the style, reminded me of Hank Williams sr. for some reason.

Criticism: I think the lyrics (especially on the verses) are a little buried in the mix compared to the guitars.

Great job!

Made my day! I love Hank Sr. - we're at opposite ends of the vocal range scale, but hey if I reminded you of him I'm damn happy!

I hear you on the mix. I'm pretty green at mixing - the vocals either sound overly dominant or muddy in the mix... Maybe sometime I'll get better.

Thanks,
Josh

Dude this is great stuff. Loads of talent at the TDPRI.

It doesn't remind me of Hank though it reminds me of Chris Rea.

Thanks much for the kind words. I've never tried to do steel guitar sounds before so they are a bit rough (multiple string bends and a volume pedal).
