I know EXACTLY what you are saying, GB. As time goes on, I often think that it has finally become impossible to write anything that is truly original anymore. With the millions (billions) of songs that already exist, how can anything new be written using the same finite set of notes, chords, melodies, etc.

And yet, new songs do indeed get written every day. How amazing is that?
At the same time, though, I think it becomes increasingly difficult to come up with anything that hasn't already been done before.

Doesn't mean that, as musicians, we shouldn't keep trying!

GB-

I am LOVIN' your backing tracks. What a service you are providing for us.

They REALLY help put it all together when we don't have band to work with.

Thanks again, GB.

Okay, some fellers are gettin' antsy for some new tunes... I haven't finished "Buckaroo" yet... But, here is "Green Onions"

First, with guitar
Second without guitar

enjoy, sorry for the cheesy organ... I've been way too busy on work and volunteer projects... but, I finally got an afternoon and night off... more to come!

hmmmm... over all of them.... most are loops (with some adjustments) but a couple ARE synths (very few) from logic... their electric piano and organ synths (more like triggered samples) are just really good...

sorry about that...

Is not a problem. Your backing tracks are so pristine and clean.

I use Ableton Live 7 and an Edirol FA-66. I guess a TonePort (USB?) would take the place of the Edirol. But then there's latency probs...

Great stuff, and many thanks for sharing. If you get a chance maybe explain your process and what software your using? I'm having a hard time getting my mind comprehending this samples and loops, etc. What drum program are you using? I'm running cakewalkwith SR-16 drum machine, but I think maybe the loops is the way to go.

I'm using mostly garageband and a little logic. I own an SR16 but I haven't used it in years (they are great too) I've found I like to work fast and have a PLAN.

It is easy to get lost in feature sets (notice that lost and lots have the same letters!) I can write a song in an hour and record it in 10 minutes... then build my plan for making a 'real' recording... I have to set time limits to 'get it' and my major goals are in tune and in time...

The tonequest thing is not as important to me (perish the thought) I try really hard to not worry about that aspect and I tend to add effects (if I use any) after the fact...

in this thread I have a curtis mayfield style thing that is slightly out of tune... so I used a phaser to cover it... it still isn't perfect... but, I like it so I kept it....

Garageband is a really, really great product (I am totally biased) and as I've gotten better in Logic... I dig how I can use them together... and now I've added melodyne and it should really earn its keep on a project I'm starting next month....

You know getbent, these tracks are a real great resource for TDPRIers. It would be cool if they all could be found in one place. Like, perhaps if you edited your first post to include new additions so they'd all be compiled there as well as in the thread.

Not trying to make more work for you, just a suggestion because I think these are awesome and deserve more attention/easier access.

well here's my take of the "first one in G", which is the 1st track.

Much appreciation and thanks to GETBENT for all of the music and the thread..and for all those who posted clips, man they are great ! In between a few cups of coffee and actually going out to Walmart this morning somehow I got to play a little bit over this really fine track.
