Our keyboardist vocalist is 8 months and 29 days into her pregnancy and I made her add a keyboard and vocal track this morning! HA! I'm mean.
Then this afternoon, our other guitarist and I mixed & mastered 'em in his studio (ie garage he keeps his race car in). And by the time I drove home, he'd already posted 'em on our site.
"Special Kind of Blue" has 2 acoustics, keys, vocals, backing vocals, drums, and my trusty Thinline for the only electric. I used my '69 Teisco Checkmate 15 that I found at the side of the road and a tube screamer (drive down, level up, tone at 3 oclock). I set it in my laundry room and used a cheap $20 radio shack mic, went back to my studio and adjusted the levels, compression, eq, etc... Recorded the track, saved it... when I went back to put the stuff away I discovered that the mic fell off the stand onto the floor and was pointed away from the amp... Oh well, I had dialed it in until I found a tone that worked. This is the secret to making a Radio Shack mic perform. Lay it on the floor!
On "Dark Hollow" I use my '44 Epiphone FT-45 and is the only song I sing lead.
On "Faith in the System" (I wrote this one) I use my Thinline through a Modeler (Vox setting) and Erik uses a strat and modeler (Vox Setting)
On "Simple Praise" (another one I wrote) I used both my '86 Squier strat and Thinline, Erik used his strat.
On all the songs, Lisa plays her awesome Gibson Less Paul bass, such a fat bottom end for such a skinny woman!
