Some slide...ruined by my vocals..

If you have a 'vocal zapper', use it on this one .. :)

Tried some slide on the Tele with this one - http://home.texoma.net/~flhh/jgp.mp3

I liked the groove of the song. Were you using a flanger or a phaser on the signature riff? Either way, it sounded pretty good to me. The slide playing was on the money. The song felt like it was inspired by some of ZZ top's mid to late 80's sound. The reverb parts in the middle were kinda trippy, but in a good way. As for the vocals, sing 'em lower and put some gravel in your voice and they'd be right there!
:)

Thanks Tele..and you're right - It is (supposed to be) a Top tune. I did a portion of it last Fall, and found out that I didn't have a slide (couldn't find it)...so it sat on my computer until Christmas vacation.

I pulled a 3/8ths deep 1/4" drive socket outta the tool box, and made due.

That was a stereo flanger, and the over-verb'd guitar was just for the heck of it.

I did the song for a coupla friends of mine that had recently gotten jobs..after a long spell of looking.

Hey man, I play slide with a 3/8ths deep drive socket too.......but by choice. It's the best slide I've ever known. :D

Really enjoyed it EMan. The vocals worked great IMO. Your mixes are in general extremely elaborate and very cool. I'd love to hear you with a band some time--you show such great versatility that it'd be great to hear you playing off other musicians and vice versa.

I really enjoy everything you do here in Twanger Central... I'm just saying. :)

Again, thanks for the nice comments.

BTW, I finally found my old Ernie Ball slide .. :) The socket seems to work fine though..

pc - I've been with a number of bands in the past...but not since about '87. I do like to get a garage band thing going once a year, but lately, with the way the economy had been, it's not easy to get them guys together at the same time. Kids in college, changing jobs, etc.

Trying different things in the recording realm is kinda akin to folks that video tape their golf swings....you seem to always learn something from it. There's a lot of buttons to press on my audio editor sw...and by golly, I'm gonna get to all of them!
