Tele-onius Monk!
Monk's "Reflections" arranged as perhaps the 1966 Buckaroos might have done it...
I'm on pedal steel, Karl Straub is on Tele. From an unreleased Graverobbers recording a few years old. 3.2 mb mp3 http://www.dvanet.net/audio/grreflections.mp3 dva

"Monkaroo!"
Cool, I love it. :-) It's got a great feel to it. Thanks for sharing. :-) CS
------------------------------------- (Edited to add) D'oh! I just realized today that "nuju" here is none other than Dave Van Allen, a steel player I was lucky enough to work with about 15 years ago in a group called the Capitol Hillbillies. But I've known him since the 70s when we were both playing the local DC bar circuit, and he's a great player. :-) He's also one of the most innovative steelers I've ever met: the first steeler I ever saw using delay, and definitely the first to use a steel synthesizer. (!) Seriously. Showed up for a rehearsal in his basement one day, and he was playing horn parts, keyboard parts, etc., all on steel. It was wild – but it sounded waay cool. :-) Anyway, we're lucky to have him here (even if he did just get first Tele... :-P~~ hee). ;-) P.S. Dave, I hope it's okay that I "outed" you. =:-O Let me know if you'd rather keep your identity sooper sekrit, and I'll re-edit. Glad you're here!

That's awesome! I've heard plenty of guitar players play Monk, never a pedal steeler. Your solo was killer, nailed the Monk vibe. Monk's my favorite musician, I love to hear his compositions. Got anymore?

Glad to be here
no Problem "outing" me Chris... "I'm just so proud to be here!" as Cousin Minnie would say... thanks for the effusive compliments (blush)
I wish I could take credit for more than just the steel solo- Monk in a twangin' arrangement was Karl's idea... I was just a "session guy" Rhythm section is Jim Gray on Bass, and Martin Lynds on Drums with whom I play in Last Train Home at the time they were doing double duty in LTH, and Karl's band the Graverobbers

while not striclty Tele content there are indeed telecasters present on many of the recordings posted on my mp3 page, particularly in the "Country Rock Lives, part 1"
otherwise you can gain a glimpse into the nether worlds of pedal steel http://dvanet.net/dva_audio.html

I'll tell you where I ended up
The Last Train Home website. Awesome band!
I love the lyrics and music. I really dig the production on the most recent album, Bound Away. There's a guitar tone on the title track that gave me goosebumps. Not sure why I haven't come across you guys yet. You have a new fan. |

Scott McKnight I assume...
yes, we are Last Train Homies, and I love the songs he writes.
He was the first "real" guitarist to play my Surf Green Thinline when I got it-
