AIN'T NO SUNSHINE - guitar solo

This is a solo I played over AIN'T NO SUNSHINE by Bill Withers at a gig awhile back. A friend caught it on her iPhone. Not my best solo ever, but its one of the few that was captured and I can go back an listen to.

I was playing a G&L Legacy Special thru a '68 Bassman head and a Dr Z 2x12 cabinet.

great playing, great taste, great tone...I also play this song and I decided with the rest of the band to not stop playing at the end of the chorus during the solo...this is the only thing I dislike...your playing is absolutely great

Very nice - great sounding tone, really love that subtle delay on there.

I've got a couple Celestion blue back speakers in mine.

Nice! It's always great to hear different approaches to the old favourites.

When covering "Ain't No Sunshine" years ago I used to start the solo by duplicating the first two bars of the vocal melody and swelling into feedback before dropping into my own improvisation....made me feel like I was "saying something".

Not a criticism, I really liked what you did, but sticking to a scale that works with every chord in the riff can start to sound a little amateurish after a while.

Thanks guys.

Hearing seeing this clip makes me realize I sound a lot better when I leave more space between phrasing. Makes me want to record more of my live playing - so I can hear what works & what doesn't. If my daughters or wife come to future gigs, I may try to get them to record as many solos as they can on their phones so I can go back and hear what it is I'm doing. "The tape don't lie"
