Playing over a Robben Ford-style backing track

Having fun with this, not really in RF's style but a bit more rock/fusion oriented.

Very nice. You really have your own style. I hear influences but you dont wear them on your sleeve. Keep posting your music.
I like the way you breath and dont just play long fast lines constantly. It took me years to learn that.

Thanks so much! I felt like I played a bit too many notes on this take. I am with you on the breathing/leaving space thing, I think it is very important.
Thanks again!

Distracting to mention Robben Ford, Jostein - this is virtuoso playing in its own right!
I agree with gitold's comments, you have your own way of playing and comparisons are irrelevant. I also thought the dynamics were good, considering you were playing to a passive backing track - it is much easier to leave spaces when you are playing with sensitive accompanying musicians..

Hi, thanks so much for the kind words!
It is definitely much easier for me to play with live musicians, I am fortunate to play with some great guys. This is the first backing track clip I play, it has some chalenges in terms of exechution, phrasing, dynamics and space.
It was fun, so hopefully I'll make another one sometime.
Thanks again!

Awsome playing!
So relaxed. I like 2:17 - 2:30 best. Reminds me of Holdsworth!
Listened to it several times.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it!
Interesting about that spot reminding you of Holdsworth(I take that as a compliment!), I didn't realized it until you said it.
Not long before this clip I made a Holdsworth clip so that might explain!

Absolutely meant Holdsworth as a compliment. Thanks for posting the added clip.
I know I also tend to reflect whatever I am studying at the time.
