Talk To Me (Straty, Blusey, very Mayer-ish)

Hey guys,
I'm still at it, writing and recording my songs and slinging them out on the interwebs. As mainly a Tele player, and this forum being my main hangout, I feel ashamed posting a song that I played not even ONE Tele on. This one is all strat, with my trusty Wampler pedals and Xotic boosts between my guitar and my '78 Fender Super Reverb. That amp was made for a Stratocaster!

Well here it is, my song "Talk To Me":

This one as a definite John Mayer feel to it. I channeled a little Hendrix for the opening chords and guitar tone.

I also just got a new Universal Audio LA 610 Preamp and a Miktek microphone. I feel like this is my most polished sound recording yet, from a sonic standpoint anyway.

See what y'all think!

Wally

Nice tone, I liked the opening. Right in that "Yellow Ledbetter" zone where a Strat sounds incredible.

I think jlove is onto something there... Very Mike McCready tone. Nice stuff.

I also wanted to point out a couple other similarities in guitar tones and vocals across several tracks. They are very Pat McGee Band. Also for some reason this transported me to the mid 90s and that guy who played guitar and dated Donna on 90210 (yes I went there; and yes I watched he show).

Jmu......I'm still laughing, lol. (yes I watched it too). Jamie Walters and the Heights with the song "How Do You Talk To An Angel".

Now that you mention it, the vocal sound and production may be similar. I did like that song as a young teenager, learned how to play the Dsus, Csus bar chords to play that song (if my memory is correct) . So maybe it's still in my head and found a way out finally.
And my wife's first comment when she heard it was ,"that reminds me of "Yellow Ledbetter".
Again, that was a song I played 100's of times in bands through high school. I guess we really do end up mashing all of our influences together, almost subconscienly, and spit it back out, hopefully in a slightly original, different way.
Anyway, thanks guys for checking it out.

Here is my Facebook music page if your feeling generous with a like.

Good stuff. My next NG will be a strat. I'm torn on the pups. Like the 57/62's, but I also like the 69's both by Fender.
